I recently found an old Sony Xperia U in my old room, which seems to be bricked. There is no reaction whatsoever when it is plugged into a computer. It does charge (the little red charging light turns on), but it will not enter recovery mode with the button combination. While plugged in to my computer, from time to time the led bar will light up green and the computer will make a little sound as if a new device has been plugged in, but no device is visible in the This PC folder. OneClickUnbrick does not work as it does not detect the phone and Odin does not do anything either.

From what I can remember the phone is rooted, and I was trying to install cyanogenMod.

Any ideas or should I just give up now?

Depends on if the battery actually charges and will go into flash mode.

Recovery and download mode are different. I think on my SOny Download mode was hold vol- while off and plugging in to PC and wait for it to respond, I could be wrong though.
