Right now I have it set up when I get a text or an email I hear a beep.

I'd like to see it up so that when I get a text a ringtone goes off and have emails just remain as the beep.

I have ringdroid and it's pretty nice for setting up ringtones, but when I do this it only effects the email. Pretty much backwards of how I want it set up.

    Any suggestions?

As I understand it, the Notification sound does both Email and text notifications on the default apps, Try using Handcent or another 3rd party app and modifying the tone there..

Sweet. The handcent worked. BUT I run into another problem now. The original notification still goes off. So I'll hear the beep and then the song plays afterwords. So I get two notifications.

I don't see anywhere in my settings where I can turn off the normal sound/notification.

    This is in Handcent FAQ.

Open the stock messaging app, hit menu, scroll to the bottom, and uncheck notifications.:D
