    Hi All!
I am new to Android (and the entire Smart Phone concept). I have a ZTE Maven with Android 5.0 & AT&T. I do not have a data plan, so I use SMS texting.

My questions might seem basic, but I got quite lost trying to find the correct answers, so I hope you don't mind my posting them here. I also hope you don't mind that I put 2 items in one post. I thought that might be best in case they are related somehow.

First- I could not figure out how to have the default SMS text message application to show (or at least let me see) the Inbox, Outbox, Sent folders like on my old "Dumb Phone". Do I need a helper app? Is there one you all recommend?

Second- When I turn on the phone, I'll often have notifications shown on the home screen. Usually they are reverse truncated so much of the message is not visible. I was able to figure out how to get to the Notifications Log, but can't view the actual text of the notifications in the list. I can see the app that sent the notification with a tap. But to see the text of the notification, I tired long press, short tap, double tap, swiping left & right. No luck. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

An Example: One notification said "The following apps have been" The rest is not visible. I'm interested in viewing the entire message. Is this possible?

Thanks Very Much for helping me learn Android. It's kind of fun, actually.

    Enjoy This Day!
    Paul

The following apps have been " is just a notification that should read "updated", meaning, the Google play store has updated those apps automatically, we all get those notifications, nothing to worry about.

To get the old-school "inbox" etc views you'll need to use a different SMS app. No biggie: there are alternatives to everything and there's no reason to stick with built in ones if they don't do what you want. From memory "Easy SMS" by Pansi Studios has that option (it's not a common request, so most sms apps don't).

Thanks Guys for the information. It's surely appreciated.
I'll take a look around for an app to let me go "Old School" with my inbox & stuff.
    Thanks Again!
