Wow...a birther!

Is Hawaii no longer part of the United States?

People contested that he was actually born in Kenya. Whether or not it is true, there was a resolution signed by all present members of the house congratulating Hawaii on their anniversary of being one of our states of which President Obama was born.

Every single one of the house members signed it. You can argue whether or not they actually believe it (or were too politically cowardly to oppose that) if you want. Whether or not people believe it, we're going to say that he was born in Hawaii damn it, otherwise it makes us look like a bunch of morons who would elect someone's cat if it ran a good campaign. Perhaps looks are not deceiving. We'll even elect someone who travels on a passport issued by another country.

Another reason that may not matter is that we did have a president that was born in France (somehow that is OK because both of his parents were citizens. I think it is funny how a child born in this country to two foreigners is a citizen, yet if I were somehow born elsewhere I would not be a citizen of that country because my parents were from the wastelands of Michigan and still call it home.)

you seem to go back and forth between light-hearted and serious-cat...
Well if you can't see that something can both be trying to point out a certain lack of clarity AND be light-hearted, then  And even though it'll be quite :( and make me both  and  at times I shall try to litter my posts with the smilies that seem more legible to you than words :)

...or simply phrasing the comment so that it doesn't come off as if you actually didn't understand what you're quoting
...I think you mean almost the exact opposite of what you seem to be suggesting; unless you really want them veni, vidi, vici. Which doesn't seem to match the rest of your post's tone.
Now in my original post I said that I thought he meant the opposite of what he'd written(which I'd quoted), I that I thought that didn't match the tone of the rest of his post.

I'm sorry, opps I mean,, but that does seem to be seeking clarity, it does seem to show an understanding of the content of the post, and my use of another common phrase relating to the Romans, I thought was quite :), but we've already established that was lost on you

I shall, for you, try and keep future posts much simpler, and cartoon filled :D. Is that  with you?

No one rational believes Obama was not born in Hawaii. Look to the "leaders" of the birther movement: most of them are five cans short of a six pack.

Africa? o_O

I thought human life and civilization started in southwest Asia?

We (humans) have been fighting over that area since we were able to fight. Maybe it isn't racism, but Jerk'ism' but not the same kind that mpw is (just kidding, it just fit right in there but I don't want you to be lumped in with the 'violent jerk.') People just seem to like fighting over stuff for some reason.

Socialist healthcare which our country can't afford to pay is not what we need.

Socialist healthcare? We don't and won't have anything nearly as good for the majority of citizens in this country as the sort of "socialist healthcare" found in much of modern Europe.

What we have is a system that enriches health insurers. We need to dump our entire system for something better that cuts out the useless middle corporations.

I am on board with this completely. I don't feel that the socialist systems are good enough quite frankly, we need to design something better. There are great elements to it, but some parts of some systems are pretty unacceptable.

That is how the design of a new system should begin. What is acceptable? The problem is that when a system is designed by a majority, you are less likely to get what you want but it is more likely to be a system of equity than if say, I designed things.

Do you want the private sector doctor in Maryland who was performing a routine procedure screwed up so badly that the patient who was in for something relatively minor now has get dialysis because the surgeon disconnected his kidney irreparably? If so, I can sign you up. This butcher (I mean, doctor) is still working. The hospital is involved in a huge cover up and no action has been taken against him for repeatedly putting his patients in danger.

Private sector workers suck just as badly as government workers here, they are just paid more to do it.

Rift Valley, Africa I believe; the spread of humans out of Africa is an amazing story; well worth searching out some of the great articles from National Geographic and other documentary sources. Some of the whys and hows of human journeys round the globe are fascinating, and after watching a few good documentaries (the BBC did a really good one about 18-24months ago) I'd challenge anybody to justify the Bible's version of creation!

...We (humans) have been fighting over that area since we were able to fight...
Unfortunately the same is true of practically the whole world :(

...it just fit right in there...

I am not familiar with every case of malpractice in the country right now, sorry. Of course there are bad doctors here. I am not naive enough to say everything is perfect, there are bad apples in every bunch. But we have the most advanced healthcare in the world for a reason, because when it comes to talent, you get what you pay for. You don't see people going to Canada or Europe for treatment...

The quality is in the worker, not the worker's employer. Besides, I was discussing getting rid of health care insurers...who contribute nothing to health care.

You should go look how that ranking is actually calculated before randomly posting it as some sort of evidence against universal health care systems.

That's pretty much only based on how much medical research comes out of a hospital system (or individual hospital) and has almost nothing to do with quality of care.

Even a simple wikipedia page does more justice than that.

The CIA World Factbook ranked the United States 41st in the world for lowest infant mortality rate and 46th for highest total life expectancy.

A recent study found that between 1997 and 2003, preventable deaths declined more slowly in the United States than in 18 other industrialized nations.

The Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) found that the United States ranked poorly in terms of Years of potential life lost (YPLL), a statistical measure of years of life lost under the age of 70 that were amenable to being saved by health care.

Bad quality of health care in the U.S. compared to other countries isn't a damn conspiracy theory, it's the truth. The only people who don't want that to change are doctors who are getting rich by non-regulated prices and the people who pay top-dollar to see a doctor whenever they want, wherever they want. Unfortunately for them, there is more of us than them.

Sh`itty health care here is a reality for a ton of people in this country, especially people like me who work in different hospitals and health care clinics everywhere I go (VA clinics, free clinics, etc) everywhere I go.

The false and misleading reportage of Andrew Breitbart and Fox News that led to the firing (if temporary) of Shirley Sherrod is a perfect example of modern-day racism.

Breitbart's manipulation of the interview tape and Fox's reporting of it led some people astray, but the reality is that both that individual and Fox knew exactly what they were doing. Their problem is...they got caught.

Racism, pure and simple

You're unfortunately brainwashed by the left wing media and the government. It's not your fault as they are good at it.

The White House and the White House alone fired that woman. The only person to blame is Barrack Obama.

And he is half black.

Sorry. Wasn't 'evil' Fox. It was Obama and the White House. I guess that makes Obama racist.

They did a good job spinning it to make it look like it was the right wing media's fault.

The White House even apologized and said they only have themselves to blame. They fired her right when the footage was released. Didn't even ask her a question.

Wake up people.

I wish you'd stop posting all this ****ing crap IOWA, I've responded a number of times when you've falsely accused me of lying and asked you to show where; you've repeatedly failed to do so, I've shown where you've lied. Yet you keep calling me a liar without any proof, and then make out like I'm being evasive when I'm not. Next time you accuse me of being a liar please actually show where you think I've lied, and I will prove you wrong, maybe then you'll be reasonable enough to apologise.

Nope, I never said that; maybe this is an example of you not understanding what I'm posting.

I'm assuming that's a joke, as it has nothing to do with racism.

I thought he was born in Hawaii; how is that not part of the US? what do you mean?

Where have you lied? At the VERY LEAST, every post in this thread where you've regarded me.

And honestly, your full of shit, therefore a bad person.

Indeed, I am sure the tanning tax will be the next major cause brought up as a new reason to oppose Obma on Fox News, World Nutcase Daily, tea party events, et cetera, and since it involves the tanning of paleskins, will be turned into something typically right-wing, hateful, and racial.

I envision a Glenn Beck special.

:)

Hateful? Most of the hate speeches come from the "liberal" end of things. Racial? That's also brought up MORE by democrats, as they love beating the dead horse it already is to stir up "why me" support.

You want to hear typical? Democrats and Liberals blaming everyone else for their mistakes, and it looks like they've trained you well.

Compared to whom? The UK where healthcare and medicine is rationed? Doctors getting rich? Are you serious man? Doctors don't make ONE PENNY of profit until they hit their 50's, typically, and have dedicated their whole lives to to schooling. Take away the profit motive long term by price regulation a.k.a. price fixing, which is by far the biggest anti-capitalistic move there is, and why would anyone even consider becoming a doctor if they will remain in debt(from school) their whole lives? It's basic economics man.

All throughout history, it's shown socialism, and the like, have massively failed, and just won't work. It stifles innovation, it stifles invention, and keeps us from progressing as a race. Do you think without any kind of profit motive, do you REALLY THINK medicine, or ANYTHING for that matter, would have progressed to where we are now? If you do, you are a fool, and have no place in this discussion.

Take away profit motive, take away advancement. And I'm sorry, but there's FAR too much shit that needs curing/new treatment methods for us to sit still.

You're right. Over 50 million uninsured people with greedy insurance companies around and their pre-existing condition clauses and denial of care on just about all of them are so much better! Talk about helping people.

Doctors don't make ONE PENNY of profit until they hit their 50's

Wrong. I've been around doctors in two polar-opposite types of environments (one is a lower-income area in Louisiana and one is an upper-income area in North Carolina) and I've known that to be wrong since I started. They all still live in the nicest neighborhoods and drive the nicest cars on the lot, both specialists and internalists.

Why would anyone even consider becoming a doctor if they will remain in debt (from school) their whole lives?

Make medical school more affordable for our future doctors. If I'm not mistaken, some beginning provisions for that are in the latest bill. Not to mention there are a LOT of opportunities students could take to ease their financial woes already.

The U.K's NHS has actually done really well in this area and has experienced very few shortages in doctors.

There's a lot of information out there about doctor shortages in different countries, and you can compare the results yourself.

Take away profit motive, take away advancement. And I'm sorry, but there's FAR too much shit that needs curing/new treatment methods for us to sit still.

Duh. I'm not talking about medical research, I'm talking about basic care. I'm all for funneling more money into medical research, seeing as the U.S. government puts forth almost no money into any kind of it whatsoever.

Actually all medical expenses are tax deductible if you own a home. Just save the receipts. If you pay attention and set you dependents correctly for the year they can end up paying for your medical expenses. This works well for me.

LOL!

I find the best humor comes from those not intending to give any at all.

"WAKE UP PEOPLE! RUSH LIMBAUGH SAID OBAMA IS REALLY WHITE! WE CAN STOP HATING HIM NOW!"

I find when someone is stumped, they try to make a joke out of it to cover up their insecurities for feeling wrong.

Just because it's the White Houses fault a black woman got fired, I am a Rush Limbaugh fan? I have never listened to him in my life except for snipits that are on the news or a viral youtube video.

So quick to judge, when you have no idea what you are talking about - it makes you sound very ignorant.

Obama is half white half black. That's a fact that's always been known. You sound racist.
