    Anyone else experiancing random reboots?

I've had the D1, D2, D2G and now the D3 and this is the first time that I've experianced random reboots one day one. In less than 24 hours having the phone it rebooted 4 times for no apparent reason. Should I just do a factory reset or call CS? Oh, one more thing, some of my icons are off center or not lined up with others. :(

Mine rebooted once but it was right after I installed Skype (not the Skype mobile that comes with it.)

ETA: The only icon that I have that is not lined up is the handcent icon that I added to the homescreen in place of their email icon that I deleted.

Perhaps the mapping of the internal storage may be causing the issue with some apps. This would explain why some have the issue and some don't, since may depend on what you are running.

The DX2 also has the issue and maps the internal storage and sd card the same way.

    Coincidence or correlation?

I will say that I installed a BUNCH of stuff, including the Skype app. Everything that I had on my original was reinstalled on this one when I went to the market. The Skype was the only one that seemed to affect it and since it doesn't work yet anyway in terms of allowing video chat, I'll just uninstall that one. It works the same as Skype mobile that comes pre-installed. (Along with a whole bunch of other stuff that I'll never use. So far that is my biggest complaint!)

Barb, thanks for the D3 feedback :)

Perhaps unfair for me to compare the DX2 reboots to the D3, since there are other issues screwing the DX2 up.

Well I reset the phone including erasing everything, even the sd card. Now has been operating for a couple of hours without a reboot. I'm going to keep my eye on it and make sure this is not an issue that my phone in a week or two will possibly being replaced with a refurb.

    No.

Also, I've installed everything on my D3 that was on my DX2 (with some "media storage" moving of apps to make room), and haven't had a single freeze or reboot.

Well mine continued to reboot itself. So I called CS and they are sending a brand new one out by Tuesday. I'd say 7 reboots within 24 hours says this one must be defective.

I reinstalled everything I've had on my X and TB and no reboots yet. Installed them all from the Market's site last night while I played PS3 lol

Best to get another rather than fight and figure it out.

Before returning the current D3 though:

I suggest (though will be hard to do- would for me, being an app hound) reset the device, leaving the device with just stock apps for 24 hours and see if the same issues. If not, an app was the culprit.

If I had the time I might because I'm like that. But I just don't have time to go app by app to figure it out. Especially becuase about 100 apps on my phone. This afternoon when I was running errands, it rebooted itself about every ten minutes or so. Very annoying!! So I just have to put up with this one for a few more days. No biggie, but annoying.

Try clearing data on google maps. The new version on my X was causing reboots. Apps can lock up and if the cpu can't force close you will get a kernal panic. Basically corrupted data somewhere. could also be a dalvik cache corruption. But, could also be hardware. had that with a DI. Bootloops even immediately after a factory reset/wipe.

I appreciate bug hunting what app would be a pain and no time, but the point would be to see if that is what the issue is in the first place and requires no app chasing :)

All you would have to do is reset to stock and just use the stock apps (You will need to do it anyway, before returning it).

If still random reboots with just stock apps, the firmware is the issue

If no reboots- it is one of your apps

For those having reboot issues, I'd also take our your battery and make sure the contacts on the battery and phone side are both clean, then reseat it. Maybe it wasn't a good connection.

    Anybody had any overheating yet?

Trying to determine if I'm switching to this, or if I need to find something else to switch to. My 14 days with my X2 will be over in a week, gotta find something out, definitely not keeping this.

I did last night but I was also having a MAJOR problem with the battery draining quickly. It went down 30% in one hour. I found that the gmail app and the K-9 mail app were fighting with each other. I turned off syncing for the gmail and the problems disappeared. The phone is not at all warm and the battery as of now is at 40% after 11 hours and 44 minutes of being off charger.

So far out of several forums, Barb was apparently the only person stating heat issues and has since resolved the issue.

By this current life point with the X2 (released same way), there were already rampant reports of the device running very hot.

That still seems odd, since the 65nm Snapdragon in my Incredible does not get warm.

Could you try a graphically intense 3d game and see if same or worse?
