Hi, I have an strange problem with my Razr Maxx that Verizon cannot fix. I use my phone for conference calls and put the phone on mute when I'm not talking. If I leave it on mute for 10 minutes the phone hangs itself up. Every time! VZ decided I needed a new phone and the new one does the same thing.

I get 4G at my home office with great signal strength and never dropped calls. Recently I was in Colorado where I had 3G service and in this area the phone worked fine with no hangups.

This appears to be software + 4G related. I cannot get anyone at VZ to take the time to understand the problem They think it's related to the conference line I am on but no one else on the calls (there are many people and we use various conference line services) has the same issue.

    Can anyone help?

    Welcome to Android Forums.

What odes your conference line provider say about the issue?

What Thom said. Plus it's not a network issue. VZW can't tell if you're talking or not. And 4G is purely data, not voice. Right now, anyway. Maybe try toggling it at 9:30 to see if that fixes it. Not like you have to say anything. Another way to test is to call #2539, and mute the call. It's just an authentication number for VZW, so you'll just hear the hold music- don't expect to talk to anybody. If that doesn't kill the call at 10 minutes, it's likely the conference call service killing your connection.

Thanks for your reply. I will give your suggestion a try. This happens across multiple conference call providers so it's not related to them. If it's not 4G related why does it work on 3G and not 4G?

    - just because it happens across multiple providers doesn't mean it's not a provider issue.
    - good question on 3g vs 4g. point blank and period- it's data only. you can turn off mobile data and still make calls, right? proof right there. coincidence at best. try turning off mobile data and testing.
    - speaking of testing, did you try what I suggested?

What about turning data off during the call or is this not possible?

since you've not reply in over 3 days, I went ahead and tested... over 10 minutes on speakerphone and mute, and it kept on going.
