So, am I the only one that feels cheated on this announcement (rumor)? If this is the case I will return every phone that had black blotches on the screen in a dark room, and I will end up with the maxx lol!

Any specs on this yet? Other than larger battery?

I may bite if it has an HD screen though, hmmm. Time will tell.

Given Verizon's rather inconsistent release history, I'm guessing this phone will release in either 3 weeks or 6 months... and I'll guess that it'll be closer to 6 months! ;)

I'm thinking the same thing. How do we approach? Wait until unit is out or point out the fact of the blotches now?

That database screenshots says XT912, which is the normal Droid Razr (and the exact same ID is shown for the other Razrs); the Chinese ones were 917, 928 and.... another number different from 912. If that's not an error in their system, that would most likely mean there's no different hardware in that other than maybe a bigger battery.

Or.... it's a Razr coming with ICS out of the box.

I called them today. Told them I did not pay $750 for a screen that is defective. I will send back every razr that has even the smallest marks behind the screen. No excuse for this. I have bought $200 tvs (plasma, LCD) and now have led, and none look as bad as this $750 dollar purchase(razr). I should have the refurbished razr on Monday. Will let you know how that goes.

If this pans out, seems folks that want thin will be happy with the Razr and fixed battery whiners like me will prefer the Maxx.

I really like the Razr, but would prefer thicker with more battery life.

The screens are not defective. This has been gone over and over. It is a result of the manufacturing process Samsung uses on their newest SAMOLED displays. The same blotches are on the Galaxy Nexus and Note. If you dont want blotches get a Rezound which has an lcd display. Otherwise every single one WILL have blotches.

Too late, I'm past my return period. So it is normal to have blotchy looking crap on a $750 phone, or any screen for that matter? It's a problem when my og looked just as clear, without blotches. If this is "normal" then I'll wait til they get a different technology. Even though I hate apple, there screens look good under any condition. This is a defect, and whoever pays good money for this half assed screen and doesn't complain, your the reason they don't fix the problems!

I have noticed no blotches, but HDMI connection results in froze phone and auto reboot. Droid 3 after many hours and use has had no issues. Display not as good as the Razr though.

I have until end of month to return mine (Premium BB account), so will keep unless the Maxx is soon to release. Got to be a catch to the Maxx, unless higher price.

First its a $650 phone ;). Second, yes its normal for this type of screen at this time. Like it or not thats how it is. Just like anything else in life its a compromise. You still have a choice. You can continue to complain about an issue thats rarely ever going to be a problem for the multiple thousands of owners that look at a SAMOLED screen each day or you can do something about it. You can sell it and purchase a different phone. You can look in the seller section of the forum and see if someone wants to buy or trade. You can call and ask Verizon to allow you to exchange for another device like the Rezound which has an LCD display. Just to name a few.

Either way calling the millions of people that purchase devices that have SAMOLED displays part of your problem is not going to help you any.

Download screen test, set it to black and go into a dark room.. If yours doesn't show it I'll be surprised. And if it doesn't, there goes peoples theory of "it's just normal for the manufacturing process of these screens".

Pre ordered, 699 plus tax. And what about the people who don't have any blotches? Was that a defect that they don't have blotches? And I'm not blaming anyone for my problem. But if people settle for half ass products, they will keep making them and getting away with it. If your 50" plasma or whatever had blotches while watching movies, and they said "that's normal" you would be ok with it?

If I look at a bright light and then go into a dark room and close my eyes, I see blothes also. Guess my eyes are defective too! wonder if I can exchange them?

I have no blothes on my RAZR screen either, at least none that are noticeable. If I have to download a screen test and then set it to black and then go into a dark room to see them, what's the point really? I watch movies all the time with my RAZR and never see any blothes. I also use my RAZR as a night clock and set it on the lowest brightness level, no blothches! If I have to do all these tests just to prove my device has these blotches, whats the point? under all normal and everyday use, I will never see them! I really don't understand?

I am not waiting for Razr Maxx or any other device for another 12 months. Then it will be upgrade time again. By then, Razr Maxx will be a relic.

I see mine when watching you tube videos with dark backgrounds, like night scenes. And on the desk top dock, the numbers are almost covered from the blotches. If you don't have the issue, good for you. But that dismisses the people who say all razr, nexus screens have the "manufacturing defect". I love the phone, if I get one without blotches it'll be great. Don't take it so personal lol. But as long as I have blotches, they will keep going back to Verizon! But other then that I couldn't be happier. 16hr battery life, great signal, smart actions, thin, all +'s.

I keep thinking of Pepsi Max. Though it did not sell well in the US, the stuff is EVERYWHERE in England and for more than a few years. Seems more Pepsi Max than diet or regular over there.

Yes, a huge tangent to the thread- sorry.

Could the Razr Maxx be the Droid 4? Remember when we first got a leaked image of the Bionic and it was side by side with the Droid HD which turned out to be the Droid Razr? Mabye the Maxx means a slide out Keyboard and a bigger battery making it more capable than the Original Razr.

Look at the leaked images of the Droid 4 it looks just like a Razr and Razr Maxx sounds alot better than Droid 4. Even the leaked document doesn't have the Droid 4 anywhere on it and it has been leaked right after the Razr got released. I think the leaks said the Droid 4 was looking at a mid to ending December release.

If it is the Droid 4 I expect it to have the same specs as the Razr and not the 720p screen that we think it has. I think that will be reserved for the DX3!

If i'm right remember I called it first! :D
