I like to read articles on Yahoo...
but they made a change that is getting on my nerve!

when you click on an article you want to read..
it first pops you to another page with only part of the article, this is just a few lines more than the initial caption on the main page. it is like a preview of the full article.. which I already read on the main page, when I first clicked on it.

Yahoo, why would I want to see the preview again??? I have already decided to read more! that is why I clicked it!!!! waste of time and waiting for it to refresh, so I can click on the "more" button!!!

    question:
does anyone here know how to turn off this stupid waste of time and energy "feature"?????

Doesn't this belong in the "useless" thread? :p :D ;)

Seriously, I used to go to Yahoo news all the time, but after their last format change (the one before the one that has irked you) I gave up and stopped going there. Pity.

But no, I don't know how to turn that off, and I'd guess they don't want you to. It's all about driving you to ads and revenue.

You might take a look at fast news. It's a pretty small app that scrapes the walls of lots and lots of news sites, stripping off all the videos and related crap. Not perfect, but it's quite good. I've gotten to enjoy a couple of the NY sources, too.

    Good luck.

the only decent news machine is news.google.com

it is fast, it is extremely programmable for your preferences on what you want to see...

I can even have it watch the thumping going on in the political harping arena :D

    yeah.. you are right.
it is just making us look at a few more ads before we can see the article.

this will be counter productive.. because.
like me.. others will go looking for a more streamline site for news....
and that will lower your clicks and ads viewed by the masses.

    great idea, yahoo...
now watch as you go bye bye into history ..
with blackberry, palm, and other dinosaurs that refuse to listen to the public.

I thought Yahoo was just a front-end for Microsoft Bing these days, who provided their content. They'd already gone bye bye in history?
