Help Rebranding and other questions

Hi all.

I have a Vodafone Desire which I debranded several months ago. I'd like to return the phone to stock Vodafone, but before I do, I'd like to back up the private or protected apps that normal backup software cannot backup, so I can install them to another phone. Some of the apps, such as Shapewriter, are no longer available on the Market. What's the best way to do this?

If you're rooted - Titanium Backup, or you can just pull them from /data/app using adb (or AndroidCommander) and keep the *.apk files safe

OR 'App Manager' on the Market (probably the easiest way tbh)

Then use this to rebrand:

Apply temp root and use titanium. No warranty issue as its just an app and root is lost at reboot

Thanks. That sounds like the sort of method I'd prefer.

Regarding the rebranding, do I need to root to rebrand the phone once everything is backed up?

No, just flash the RUU as you did when debranding (but without the gold card as it's not needed)

Thanks for all the help.

I did the temporary root using Visionary+ then used Titanium Backup. Sadly, Shapewriter is fine on my HTC Desire but the keyboard is too small for the bigger screen on my Dell Streak. But at least I can restore it to the Desire once it is rebranded.
