General recent Incredible article on Engadget

    Well its really not an article, but an open discussion on how to improve the incredible. "What would you change about the HTC Incredible" It's rather counterproductive on Engadget's part. I figure I would report so the "real" community can add some balance to the Engadget post and so there can be some discussion here as well.

    But they do that all the time with a lot of different devices. Not just ours.

    Believe me, they do it for every device they cover. Soon there will be a "how would you change your ipad/evo4g/iphone4".

    Yeah, Engadget does that all the time :) I honestly don't even know what I would change on the incredible, I think it's pretty perfect. Froyo is all I can think of, but I'm pretty patient I'd rather want a safe ota over a rushed one. I take care of my phone like a hawk!

    bigger screen, beefier battery, and option to turn off sense UI without disabling HTC widgets.

    Engadgenet has no love for the Incredible they never mention it in the top dogs when compared to the Iphone 4... Not nice... Is verizon not paying like apple to have various articles every day?

    The incredible is not perfect, but i am happy with it in general.

    I too think it is a little odd that the Dinc is getting little face time, but in the gadget world it is old news(since it is not a magical apple product...)

    A raise around the camera to protect it and a dedicated camera button.

    Just like to see battery life improved. The phone certainly does not look to be getting a proper charge unless you unplug shut it off and plug it back i after the geen light first comes on.

    2. Better battery
    3. Camera lense that doesn't collect dust
    4. Better music playback (higher quality sound processor)
    5. Stock push email (non gmail)
    6. Better 3D processor (power VR?)
    7. Super AMOLED
    8. Stronger vibrator (insert joke)
    9. Better auto focus

    Am I being too harsh?

    1&2 - Agreed. Although, Seidio's 1750 battery + slightly underclocked using SetCPU works for me.
    3 - Mine doesn't collect dust
    4 - Music plays fine for me. I plug it into my car and it sounds great. I have an amplified sound system and it puts out clearly. All music is 320kbps.
    5 - Would be nice.
    6 - Sure, why not?
    7 - Would be a plus for sure.
    8 - I sometimes miss notifications, too.
    9 - Can't say I can complain with what we have.

    I'm very satisfied with the phone have no regrets with choosing it. However since this is a "what if" thread, here's my $.02.

    My single biggest annoyance with the phone is the volume keys. They should be less sensitive or moved lower. I'm finally getting to where I don't accidentally push them all the time, but it still happens often. How many time have you handed your phone to someone to show them a picture or app and they inadvertently hit the volume button? (Don't lie, you know it happens a lot. ;))

    The stock phone is thin and light enough that I would have been happier with a larger stock battery. In fact, a larger battery would have brought the case out flush with (or slightly past) the camera bezel, solving another annoyance I have with the phone.

    Call quality could be improved. My old dumb-phone was noticeably clearer.

    Hands-free BT calling. I know I know, this is a limitation of the OS and not the device's fault.

    the only thing i find freaking stupid about this phone is the damn charger port... totally messes me up all the time

    So, why don't we all write to endgadget, stating our discontent about them not mentioning the DINC? I'm sure a couple thousand emails might get their attention.

    I have had Palm devices, Treo, Nextel, Windows Mobile, and Blackberry Devices ...the HTC Incredible, by far, is the best I have ever used. Of course it is also the most recent.

    I can see two big improvements:

    1. better battery life, unless I charge during the day ...battery is done by 5:00PM

    2. better bluetooth integration to work with my contact lists in my phone

    My major issues are:

    1) Improve battery life.
    2) Improve Voice dialer - totally sucks - basically unusable
    3) Fix various calendar issues with Exchange
    4) Allow HTML email in Exchange


    Minor stuff:

    1) Wish charge port was on bottom
    2) Phone call quality could be better - still not as good as past BB or Moto phones
    3) Global font/display options a'la BB. Would also like to be able to control/ shut off lighting of bottom buttons, e.g. when reading ebooks.

    When you flip it in landscape and put it in a car dock, it is better to have it where it is now.

    Good point - which brings up another thing on my wish list:

    * Would like to be able to operate in landscape mode from home screens. It is a PITA to flip back & forth when changing apps - probably a bigger pain when in a dock.
