Recommend a txt msg app w/spell checker, and a basic calculator

    I have the original droid 1.
    the default txt msg program has a lousy spell checker.
    Which free ones do you like?

    also, the default calculator sucks.
    when I open the app and enter #s, it adds to the #s that are already present. I need to press the '=' sign to clear the field first.
    recommendations?

    Spell check is a function of the keyboard and not the app. Try the trials of SwiftKey or Swype and see if those are any better for you. They will learn from your usage to create a personal dictionary

    ahh.. forgot to mention that my droid 1 has a physical keyboard.

    SwiftKey works with a physical keyboard. Maybe Swype also.

    I use a calculator app called Real Calc, that works exactly as a traditional pocket calculator would. It's actually a scientific calculator, but all the basic arithmetic functions and numbers are on large buttons.
