Root Recovering Gmail Password

For the life of me, I can't remember the password I used to set up the Gmail account on my Droid. The Gmail app is still logged in on my Droid; but I can't do anything like, say, log in via the web to update my credit card information.

I could have sworn I had my regular email set up as the recovery address. But the password reset page page (https://www.google.com/accounts/recovery) doesn't seem to do squat, and I apparently can't convince Google I am who I am (https://www.google.com/support/acco...acc_reco&ara=2&ctx=acc_reco&source=no_ts&rd=1). I haven't found any relevant-looking contact mechanism other than the automated form.

I find it strangely ludicrous that I have complete access to this account via my Droid yet can't figure out how to get into it any other way. Does anybody have any recommendations?

Thanks in advance for any help anybody can offer.
