When the froyo update file was found, I followed the guide on this website to upgrade, but I could never get my droid into recovery mode. I tried to do a hard factory reset but it just stayed on the large M for fifteen minutes. I took the phone into my verizon store and asked them to factory reset it, and they attempted the same thing I did. They couldn't help and said to just wait until the OTA update went out.

Has anyone else had this issue? I've followed the correct steps and updated someone else's phone following the procedure. I also did the same thing to upgrade to 2.1 before the OTA update. I've heard that the froyo OTA update has been out for a few days and I haven't seen anything, so I'm starting to worry.

    Can anyone help?

The OTA update wont even work when you do get it because it needs recovery to work in order to update you. I would go to VZW and ask for a replacement droid. Or you could try using an sbf to see if that would get your recovery back.
