Hey guys, damn that was hard. I'm running something you aren't, lets fix that! After working for about a 8 hours straight at it, I got philz building from source and booting!

disclaimer: what you do with what I provide is your responsibility. if what I made messes up your phone, its on you not on me. So with that said, I will do what I can to help you recover, but its ultimately your fault if something breaks.

I booted it up and everything seems to be working, flash it just like you flash clockworkmod recovery.

    fastboot flash recovery philzvolt_bumped.img

    BUGS:
Radio does not work when installing from rom zip (working on it)

One BIG difference from cwm is how long you hold power and the volume down button until it boots. After you fastboot flash it, pull your battery (or however you want to power off completely) and hold volume down and power. LET GO OF POWER AS SOON AS YOU SEE THE "FACTORY RESET PROCESSING" SCREEN! THIS IS AN ABSOLUTE MUST OR PHILZ WONT BOOT, IT WILL JUST TURN OFF! After first boot, just use an app inside android to reboot to recovery, I personally use APM+ and xposed:http://forum.xda-developers.com/xposed/modules/advanced-power-menu-apm-t2842792

I need someone to tell me if backups work, and also restore. Preferably someone who has a good cwm backup just in case, isnt worried about losing stuff, and knows how to restore using the LG restore tool. Lemme know in this thread how it goes.

    Sources:
https://github.com/chevanlol360/Kernel_LGE_X5 (Thanks to chevanlol360 for fixing kernel source, if there is any problem with me using your source please let me know and ill figure something out. I just have no clue when it comes to kernel stuff, and your sources were an amazingly big help. Gonna try to base this off stock zv4 kernel in the future.)

The next sources were very heavily based off of Quarx's, Zaaap's, and Shinobisoft's work for similar devices on github. Find them somewhere and buy em a beer if you like what you see!
    https://github.com/Quarx2k
    https://github.com/Zaaap
    https://github.com/shinobisoft

    my sources:
    https://github.com/touchpro?tab=repositories

And finally, the Philz Volt download here:
    http://www.mediafire.com/download/2pbkhl06lj5rg58/philzvolt_bumped.img

Find something wrong? send me bug reports. Just post em up in this thread. Good ones are dmesg and adb logs.

And yes, I am working on getting CM11 compiling. Dont expect too much. I have a stupidly slow laptop and thats a lot more work than this was. If anyone wants to help, my sources are posted above, just throw down on it and make sure you post your updated device and vendor tree for the benefit of the whole community here.

...I have the same issue as i did with twrp of no signal..
    Backup and restore work fine.

I flashed cwm and the ROM.zip I've been trying has no issues.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong but its not working for me..

The fact you have both these recoveries booting and mostly working is giving me great hope for this phone!
    Thanks:D

CWM recovery, TWRP, and now Philz.... I think the winner is Phiz_Touch!!!
This phone is starting to look up, now that we got recovery out of the way.....

Have you tried to flash a ROM with twrp or philz?

Flashed the debloated zv4 rom, no problems here.

Pretty sure it needs to be formated to exFAT or ext4

My SD is not partitioned...could that possibly be why twrp and philz are giving me problems flashing ROMs?
I've been meaning to partition just haven't had time to backup my SD lately
I can see and flash from external SD in both recoveries

My SD is partitioned fat32 first part and ext4 other half and everything is smooth that way.

I use fat32 for my SD card and thing seem to work too.

I haven't forgot you guys, I needed a day off from kernel hacking and my internet was down yesterday which was a nice break lol. I should be able to get back to working on this in the next few days, I've compiled about 250mb of cm11 and am just fixing caf kernel problems right now.

If your talking about me, that's very flattering but I'd have to decline. Im at a good place in life and have everything I need, I do this for fun and so we can all benefit. The only thing I ask is that you guys tinker with source too if you have good internet and a decent machine to compile on, that way as a community we grow and can help every device we get in the future. Theres a lot in the device and kernel sources that I'm sure I'm missing, and it would be great to have another pair of eyes on all of it.

Just installed this since the TWRP recovery seems to be having an issue installing ROMs... when I tried to do a backup, it said I only had 1.8GB free on my SD. I have an 8GB card with 5.3GB free. Any ideas as to why?

You need to choose backup to external storage, read all the options on the backup menu

I did...even if it was reading internal storage, I have over 2.2GB free there.

I have one stock 32gb vfat partition, as you may have already seen in my partition report.eventually i will partition via recovery for sd_ext and swap maybe.

Wait, so philz installs Roms right? If so, I wonder if my twrp.fstab file is borked.

I had the same radio issue with this recovery..I hope I don't come off as an a**hol broken record lol, I'm truly sorry if I do. just trying to answer questions and really want twrp ;)

    I dunno...couldn't make a backup so I didn't try installing a ROM.

Bah...I was hoping this one would work right. I like the fact the TWRP and Philz let you specify what to backup and restore as well as having touch interfaces. I guess it's back to CWM for now. :/

Nah your fine man, I'm frustrated too lol. It'll get there eventually, but for now probably keep flashify and the cwm IMG ready to use.

I'm looking into systematizing my tests. I got apk downloader on chrome cause I know the debloated ROM is seriously stripped. I'm looking into a full wipe with CWM and a clean flash to see if it causes the same problem... For all I know its the ROM that isn't packed right not the recovery...

Boost or VM, works for both. Well works is a stretch for now but both carriers and the sprint prepaid one should work too.
