This device has been released 6 months ago so it's quite early to have TWRP on low activity devices like this one.

UPDATE: I noticed sometimes it refuses to boot. This may or may not work for your variant or device. Please be patient, I am looking for a fix.

There is no guarantee this works perfectly, this is Pre-Alpha. This is not a port, it has been built from source.

Installation
Your bootloader must be unlocked.
To try it out, type this command: Fastboot boot recovery recovery.img
To install it, type this command: Fastboot flash recovery recovery.img
Do not switch to Slot 2 in TWRP, this may result in a hard-brick! Recovering from this is possible, however we do not have the required tools right now.

I have XT2052-1 with build number QPGS30.82-105-4.

I tried this twrp from Dec.31, 2020:

I took these steps:

#adb reboot bootloader
#fastboot flash boot twrp-3.5.0_10-0-ginna.img
#fastboot boot twrp-3.5.0_10-0-ginna.img

but twrp seemed to have no screen response after loading.

This means your touch screen panel is not supported. Even if you have the same phone, some Moto E 2020s have a Focaltech panel, and the current maintainers for this device have not posted a fixed TWRP image on twrp.me which supports that panel. Do you have Telegram? If so, join the https://t.me/motoe7 group and have a chat with the current maintainers of the device. They have a OrangeFox recovery image which supports the Focaltech panel.
