When you downloaded the file, did you change the name of the file to PC36IMG exactly? Do not add a .zip to the file because it's already a .zip file document.

Did you put it onto the ROOT of your SD Card? You know.. when you go to "My Computer" and click on whichever drive your android device is mounted on and paste it into there.

It should recognize the file if you named it exactly. Try to boot into Hboot.. Hold Vol. down and the power button until hboot screen loads up, and it will search for the file automatically. When it finds it, it will say if you like to click Update.. Select yes..

It wont work. It says checking pc36img.zip and then just goes back to the regular bootloader.

Many people have been having this problem while trying to update different things in bootloader.

I'm not sure what the problem is but i experienced it myself while trying to unroot last week.

I was able to work around my problem and unroot using a different method, but at this time I am not aware of any other methods to change recoveries besides using the PCIMG36 file.

Ya. But no other method works. All of the ways to install a recovery wont work. I am just wondering if there is just something wrong with the recovery updater or something
