I'm running a bekit 7x LV kernel and NexBeast 1.0

I usually have the OC profile set to 1200mhz and it gives me no problems. I just reinstalled Red Club Poker after not having played it since before I rooted and it's running extremely hot and killing my battery in no time flat.

My battery dropped from 80% to 30% in a little over an hour of playing and the CPU temperature was hovering around high 50s (celcius). It once got as hot as 66C! (that's the hottest I've ever seen) Now I know that's not going to break the CPU but it's obviously not right.

Even if I put the clock speed back to 550mhz the CPU is still in the low 50s while playing.

    Any suggestions?

Try another kernel. BeKit ran way to hot for me on my Droid, so i switched over to P3Droid's kernels. My temps are low. I have yet to crack 120F, even under heavy use. I'm also running BB V1.1, don't have ANY complaints

Tried P3Droid and it's pretty much unchanged. I guess a better question to ask is why a simple poker game is taxing the CPU so much.
