Root Remap Hard Key Actions?

I saw an article on how to remap hard keys for a Hero. Would it work similarly with an Eris? Also it mentioned ADB coding and I have no idea what that is. I did some searching on ADB but didn't find anything that explained what is needed to recode using ADB.
