Just looking for a simple way to remove the text below any icons on my home screen. For example, since I already know what the phone app icon looks like, there's no reason I need to see the text. This is purely for aesthetics.

Bettercut. Costs a couple of $'s but worth it for me...and I am cheap about apps. You can install your own shortcut icons and edit text.

You can NOT replace the actual icons in the app drawer nor can you edit widget icons or text.

Bettercut allows you to edit the text, however you can NOT leave the text entirely blank. You can use space as the text but this still leaves a small grayish text box below the icon.

Some of us that are using the Sweeter Home Preview 2 home-replacement app can have icons appear wherever we want without text of any kind. The app is free, but comes with quite the learning curve.

Yup - LP and ADW both support this feature.
