Help Removing factory apps/ icons from G1

Is there a way to remove the amazon music app? In the manage applications menu there is no option, but it's a pretty big app that I have no use for. Also, a "starred" icon popped up on my home screen. Is there a way to remove it? I don't even know what it is or what it is for.

Btw, I'm on an unlocked G1 on at&t, not on tmobile.

I think if you root your phone you can remove the amazon app, but not if you don't.

I was afraid of that. Any idea about the starred icon?

You can click and hold the icon and drag it o the trash tab to remove it. My guess on what it is...I have a Bookmarks Icon that is a star, and it lets me import and export my bookmarks to the sd card.
