Has anyone done this successfully? Any steps?

Movies and tv shows purchased from iTunes have an MP4 video format that the default video player on any Android phone can't play. Unless there is a video player in the market that has that capability, you'll likely need software that will convert MP4 files to work with the default video player.

The unfortunate truth is that apple will not allow a non apple device to play movies purchased on itunes. At least not now. Movies on itunes do have drm. If you want them to play on you phone you'll have to remove the drm and convert the file.
