Help replacing original casing

Has anyone replaced the case on their sgs2 yet? I'm talking about the entire plastic surround including the front and back? I got my phone in the white and really hate it, looks extremely effeminate... Anyway I want to replace all the plastic on the front and back including the sides with some black plastic and maybe a metal surround to replace the current plastic queer chrome one.

Anyone done this?

Anyone know where I can get a kit or what product I should be googling to replace this?

Up... anyone? The silver surround has gotten to the stage where it is all chipped and looks horrible

Well... considering no one has done this I'm going to try, hope i don't wreck my phone and if it's successful i'll put a guide up on here

anyone know how much of the circuitry is connected to these two things? Or are they just casings? I've read that the outer surround can be difficult to remove because of circuitry

up, tried a case the other day, hard plastic one, was nice and thin but still looked shit... Must be someone who's done this, did some more googling earlier and no one seems to have

Tried another case, looked really nice, until I got it... HOrrrible, can't press the buttons, looks great, totally not functional.

Looking at maybe just spray painting current one now... It will chip off but the silver surround chips badly in stock form anywy

Does anyone have a guide to replacing the housing? I cannot find one, only screen replacements, need to know how much of the internals need to be moved around

Ok, couldnt find any information, except a few pulldowns, so i just had a shot... Anyway, none of the pulldowns featured pulling the actual screen off, so i attempted to do it, once the rest had been pulled off the back, and spent a good half hour with a hair dryer and a guitar pick, got it half off before the lcd panel cracked, and yeh, there goes 200 bucks... Waste of money really, but there was no info about it and the stock one looked so horrible..

Going to buy a screen and just replace it. A suggestion for anyone else doing the screen replacement is to make sure it has lcd, digitizer AND bezel (or housing) This way it is a straight swap, and wayy easier.

in case anyone wants to have a look, this is the xda thread I found.

No really detailed instructions about removing the face though, or pictures... Up until this point is easy enough (but a word of advice, if anything feels stuck it probably has either got a clip you need to undo or is literally stuck, either way, hair dryers are good)

Once I get mine back together will post some pictures of me removing the screen (albeit badly), on the off chance that they help someone later

Pants. Sorry you had no joy! I only ever got as far as removing the rear panel..that of course has nothing really connected to it. I did this when eradicating the stupid echo!

Yeh, i'm quite surprised exactly how much of the phone is incorporated into the front... definitely would not recommend anyone tries this unless they have a better way of melting the glue or removing the screen (perhaps snapping off the silver surround all the way around could help)
