Would someone like to volunteer to use only 3G for a day or two and see what the battery life is like and then report it here?

*edit* this means go into mobile networks and select CDMA only for the duration of the test.

For people that don't have 4G in their area this is very important.

We see now that a lot of phones that are 4G are actually some of the best 3G phones as well. This will aid people that have an upgrade waiting to be used but don't have 4G but may be getting in in the next 6 months. Some people say "oh i don't have 4G so i'm not getting a 4G phone" well that is not always the route to take.

    Thanks in advance.

I'll give this a try today. I am curious to see how they compare. I have great 4G reception in my area, but my battery didn't last as long as I would have liked compared to my old 3G phone.

Great Idea Trophy! I am gonna cruise all day on wifi at work and see how that changes stuff for today. But may try this as well.

This will help for people that may not be big Data users. Even if they are in a 4G area but don't use a lot of Data then it would really make sense (no pun intended) to leave 4G off unless you really needed it. Also as we know and as i've hinted on the trend is going to be that if you want a good device with the newest tech it is probably going to be a 4G device...which in turn is going to have a high price tag. These test results will help in justifying that high price tag a little more. .....i feel like i should get some comish from VZW after that statement lol

Hey guys, first time poster, but a long time lurker of the boards.

I picked up my rezound yesterday. I took it off the charger at 6:35 this morning, fully charged, and switched to 3G when I got to work at 8 as I don't get 4G coverage here. I had about 87% battery left at that point due to checking some fantasy fb sites and looking at NFL mobile.

I'm sad to say that I'm already down to 31% with light usage. All I did was show it off to a co-worker for a couple of minutes and check a few emails and texts. I haven't done anything that I would consider strenuous except download 2 apps. I did notice that it got down to 40% rather quickly and then started to slow down.

Does this sound typical? This is my first 4G phone and I just came from the Droid X

I purchased mine on Monday with the extended battery. I immediately set it to 3g only when I got it. Yesterday and today, the battery only lasted about 6.5 hours before needing charged again. I take it off the charger in the morning when I get up and it is dead by lunch. I am going to try it tomorrow with the standard battery. I also preformed a hard reset and will set it up like I had my X2 to see if that is the problem. I will try on Friday with 4g turned on, even though I do not get it in my area, and see if that makes a difference.

I have been lurking for the last year, so I felt it was time to sign up. I am glad I'm not the only one with battery problems. I feel my rezound is a better phone in every way compared to my bionic. Until I get to battery drain. I did 4 full battery cycles and have been running quite abit on the charger since Monday. Spent first day in a 4g area and last 3 days in a 3g area. Under moderate use I'm getting 3 to 4 hrs. Light use about 5 or 6 hrs. What seems weird is first day in a 4g area before charging setting up the phone at 40% I went close to 4 hrs. I also did factory reset yesterday which didn't help.

i'm almost certain that will make it worse because your phone is going to be constantly searching for a 4G tower.

this doesn't sound right guys....it should get better battery life using 3G only....i say "should" Are you sure you guys are only using things as you need? Such as not leaving bluetooth on all day if your not using it ...same for WiFi.

Wifi and bt off. cdma only. And another weird thing. I notice when I get to 99% charge It takes up to 45 min. to finish charge with screen off. My battery drains quickly to about 35% and smooths out, dropping alot slower. Task manager shows settings running only.

sounds like a bum battery. Mine lasted from 8AM with some texting and emails, slight surfing. I drained it playing a game for almost an hour around 6PM. 3G.

Agreed that is good. I think I will go to town tomorrow and see what vzw has to say.
Does anyone know about the batteries on htcpedia? I saw an 1800mah that still fits under the stock cover. Im not sure I want the 2750mah brick yet.

    Results for me today:
    12h25m31s on battery
    34% remaining
the bar at the top is about 35% blue. I did light texting, about 15 minutes of calling, about 40 minutes of ESPN browsing. Played Eve of the Genesis for about 45 minutes, a few other games for about 1hr.
Overall, this in my view is very good life. Screen brightness was on auto all day.

That is awesome. I have to have a bum battery. I hope. To be honest I love this phone so much I can live. I'm having a harder time looking at my bionic screen the more I use this.

Great day yesterday with 3G only, WiFi off. Took it off the charger at 7:48am, and went from 100% to 77% in four hours with light use (30min of phone calls, email, and light internet). Charged back to 100% by 2:30pm, then off the charger again until 4:00a this morning, and still show 40% remaining. Moderate use for music playing, email, and internet from 2:30p to 8p, then no activity from 8p to 4a (sleeping).

The battery life seems to be somewhat affected by 4G vs. 3G. I live in a very high signal area, but still see about 20% more drain over the same time period with 4G. More testing is needed.

fwiw you will see better battery results if you take screen off auto and set in somewhere in the middle of the field... i personally never liked the phone deciding how bright my screen needed to be

I had to turn brightness down some cause DAMN!! that thing is bright and beautiful, lol. Guess I'm keeping it around 80%

The 1800 is only 160mah bigger, that is only good for an extra hour (maybe 90minutes) of battery life. Personally the cost isn't justified for me. It will perform a little better though. The 1700 they sell is a real joke though seriously... an extra 60mah?!?! Thats one level of angry birds, lol

I've got to have a bad battery or something. In 20 minutes of web browsing this morning on 4G my battery dropped 11%, and I have a good 4G signal in my apartment. Took it off the charger at 6:45 and it was down to 89% at 7:05.

NightAngel79, your right 40 bucks for another 160mah is not money well spent. I got a new battery this morning, hope it works better. I tried out the extended battery, its a monster. If this one doesn't fare any better I will buy that one. Probably will anyways they are 50% off right now, so only have to pay 30 for it.

Got new battery. On 4g in town all day 7hr 54 min. at 26% light to moderate useage. So my battery must have been weak.
