I have it. I spent some time getting it too. Getting a stock backup is difficult if you already did stuff to it.

It's the system partition taken from a CWM backup.

Can somebody instruct me on how to use this? I have ZTE Awe that has been out of commission for a few days, it boot loops and I can only get into CWM recovery. Thought I had made a nandroid backup but turns out I didn't. I just want to get the phone back to stock so I can use it again. Any help is greatly appreciated.

download it, unzip to root of sd i believe and then restore as normal

I followed the instructions and received a Status 7 error.

Hey rb is that backup a system.ext4.tar?? If so wouldn't that need to be flashed through restore from the clockworkmod/backup/[NameofBackuphere] folder??

Sorry, I was under the impression that the stock 'update.zip' file could be flashed via CWM v6.0.3.7. Anyway, I tested it myself and sure enough, I also got the same error. This recovery is still a work-in-progress... I've a workaround described in the following thread:
