Help restoring data on a new phone

When restoring my apps on my new galaxy note 3 with the google account, will the saved data on my apps be restored as well?

If you backed up apps & data with Android 6 Marshmallow on your old phone, then I believe so. Otherwise, no. Your previously purchased and downloaded apps will still be available in Play for installation on the Note 3, but you will start from scratch. This is a big change in Android 6: you can back up apps AND app data with it.

Everything was backed up, but none of the data transferred with the apps

I'm guessing the old phone wasn't Android 6. You needed a backup app, like Helium.

It's a galaxy s4, i'm not sure whether that's android 6 or not?

Go to Settings --> About Phone --> Android Version and see what your S4 has.

It's Android 4. Looks like I'll have to do the backup app thing. Thanks everyone!
