Tell me this... Will it ever be possible, or is it already in the works, to restore a ROM on a general android phone \ tablet? As in, I have an old EVO 4G, a few ROMS backed up, but I don't want to buy a new \ used phone to restore them and see my old data \ information.

Now I know there are ways to backup the data and I have done that, but I suppose it's more for the kitch \ sentimental value of it. Thoughts would be great!

Since the hardware differs from phone to phone, Restoring a backup from phone A to phone B will usually result in a brick (or worse).

Yeah, definitely not surprised. I'd never try to restore a 4G backup on my V. But it just made me wonder if it's possible now or one day could be.

I wonder though if there would be a generic way to possibly do this... As in a way to bypass the hardware requirements for each ROM backup where you could restore said ROM on generic android device A... Or even a specific tablet or phone.
