My Samsung S II died and I'm getting a new one. Is it possible to retrieve the data from the internal phone memory? If so how?

    How dead is it?

If it won't run android then the only hope is if you are rooted, in which case you can make a backup using a custom recovery or use adb to copy data, as long as you can get into recovery. If you are using a stock recovery (e.g. are not rooted) then you won't be able to do that. In that case unless you can boot into android I can't think of any way.
