I was moving some files around trying to get a custom boot animation to work. In /system/bin I had put a custom bootanimation file and renamed the other to bootanimation.old. Some how I had put a return key in between bootanimation and old instead of the dot. So I have a file name bootanimation(returnkey)old saved. Root explorer thinks the filename is bootanimation now and when trying to do anything (delete, move, rename) it says it goes through but when I leave the directory and go back in it didn't. I tried deleting it from the console, but that didn't work either. Any help would be appreciated.

    Try this in the console:

    rm 'bootanimation\<returnkey>old'

The single quotes and backslash are important.

Really, you waited 3 hours in the early hours of the morning and the forum is "dead" because you didn't get a response? But yeah, what adskankster said is what I'd have suggested too.
