To share my frustration... originally had a inspire and decided to take the infuse for a 30 day test drive.

    Problems I have experienced;
    1. Phone would not go on speaker phone when on call and I received a fc over and over. Phone eventually just shut off and would not power back on. I immediately exchanged it for a new one.

    2. GPS issues. Extremly long connection times.

    3. Brightness disabled to prevent overheating issues? Come on now... How do they expect you to experience the super amoled screen without being able to turn the brightness up?

Its very unfortunate that this phone didnt work out. I really wanted to like it..... but anyways... Samsung f'd up again...

Don't know how you can tell me something's not true. I experienced the problems so I returned the device, and now i'm still having problems.

    Guess I got 2 lemons...

I agree. I haven't had any of those issues. I had a battery issue, which I have remedied by closing the lockscreen widgets.

My phone has never overheated andthe screen is plenty bright at 25-30%. I have it set, not on auto... and I never need to go higher than that, even outdoors. I gotta say, it might not use power as efficiently as the iphone, but this is still the best phone I've ever had.

Hey, you can go back and forth with people all day long. Fact is all phones are not created equal for one reason or another. I went through 3 Atrix phones also, but there are those who swear it's the best phone ever. I have had none of your issues either. Battery life is excellent {30+hrs/day}, GPS locks in seconds, and I have brightness up so high it rivals sunlight in my bedroom. I have had way too many phones in my life to say this is the best or even one of the best, but many thing make it a great phone to me.

This is my 3rd infuse...the 1st one had connections issues with wifi, so I returned 2 day later. then my 2nd unit was jumping to screens left and right, so I went to the store, they gave me the unit I am currently have, and I have to say, I am very happy with it. ...no more issues, wifi, responds as soon as I walk into my house, no more jumping from screen to screen, ..gps is great, yesterday I was in a parking lot in San Francisco, as soon as I came out of it, gps got me out of the city in no time at all. I am very happy with this unit...this one , I am keeping it...:)

All of the good things that I keep reading about the phone make me want to keep it. But, i've always read tons of bad reviews and i'm one of the people that got the shotty phone(s).

My phone pretty much never leaves my hand throughout the day. I'm always checking emails, making calls for work etc... I'm not sure if the continuous use puts strain on the processor which causes it to run hotter then norm., but I was def. receiving the "brightness disabled to prevent overheating message". I'm not sure what that's all about.

I've read a few others receiving the same message.

I am very happy with my infuse. I haven't really had any issues.

  9. Early adopters are gonna get more lemons than the rest. I've read half a dozen reviews of the Infuse from the likes of Pocketnow, Mobileburn, Phonescoop and all seem to have glowing reviews. Just because your particular phone has issues doesn't mean other people do or that the entire design and construction is shoddy. It seems every time a phone is released some guy makes generalizations about the whole thing and treats it as fact.

I bought mine last Friday, and had to take it back because every time I powered it off or did a hard reboot, it would lose all the customizations! The wallpaper would revert to stock, my edited home icon bar would lose the apps I put in it, etc.

The exchange unit didn't even wait to be powered off; it reverted to stock twice in the first couple of hours. Determined, I perservered with my customizations, and it's been behaving itself all week BUT I'm afraid to power it off. I'm going to have to face the music soon...

It's a beautiful screen, so if I have to go through 10 more exchanges, I will.

I went through two Atrix's and refused to accept a third one due to connectivity issues. I was able to get ATT to give me an Infuse instead and am tickled pink. This is easily the best phone I have owned.
If you are still not happy make sure you dump the phone prior to the 30th day.

With all due respect... I don't believe any of the comments you're saying about overheating and all.

I think you're here to bad mouth Samsung.

This phone had a single core processor that does not run hot, unless loaded with too many apps running at once that its completely unreasonable.

I have far too much Android experience with several Samsung's, HTC's, and Motorola Droids to believe all this bashing you're doing. After owning over 25 various Androids over the last few years, I know better.

Is it possible to get one or two bad phones in a row?

Yes, no matter what mfg. Why? Because if they happen to get a bad early batch and you get both from that same large batch, you're going to experience problems. But to say the mfg is bad is to show that one doesn't understand manufacturing.

Let's not forget this is leading edge technology and with it comes some risk of bugs.

I find Samsung, HTC and the others doing a good job. The two best based on my personal experience with many, is Samsung and HTC.

Actually, I wasn't here to bash the phone at all. I really liked the phone besides the minor problems that I had. I returned it for a 3rd time and now I have a good one. - No problems.

There was also someone on XDA that had an overheating problem. I also have a good friend who has the same phone and his was much more responsive then the 3 that I had. Assuming this was a bad batch.... Anyways, I'm going to continue to use the phone for 30 days and then decide if I want to wait for the Samsung GS2 or HTC Holiday.

The screen quality on the infuse is superb compared to my inspire.

I've dug and dug on the problem. It appears to be a fault to protect the phones screen.

I'm very happy to hear you persevered until you got a good one. After all you've been through you deserve it.

I do understand you're earlier frustration, which is certainly appropriate when you are trying to give it a chance.

My enthusiasm for Android is very strong, as I'm a software engineer and have looked at the code. It's very well done at this early juncture, which bodes well for the present and future devices.

There are nearly endless possibilities for great functionality with Android. The flexibility is terrific.

    Thanks for your response.

    Cheers :)

It will really go back to stock when.you restart, so stop installing those widgets on the sd card, problem solve, when you have problem you should think how to solve it rather.than.getting.frustrated :p

How do you close the lockscreen widgets? I have a battery life problem with my Infuse 4G as well.

Ok, I am on my second Infuse and still have the issues with the Brightness disabled to prevent overheating issues. I have to have the brightness all the way high, I paid to have this amazing super amoled + display. Hey tmullins23, do you no longer have that issue like the first one you had?. Please let me know. Thank you

I returned it and went back to my Inspire. The issue went away on the fourth phone but then I had another issue with the phone not wanting to go on speakerphone and froze up, wouldn't power back on untill I pulled the battery and reinstalled. I just don't have time to drive 30 miles to ATT for a replacement
