Returning my Infuse

Sad to say goodbye as I really like the phone, but I have the opportunity for the Thrill (now) or the SGS2 (when released). No problems with the Infuse, but I just want to get a later phone since I have the chance.

My question: has anyone returned a phone with a custom ROM before? Since technically I'm not trying to exercise the warranty, there shouldn't be a problem, right?

I don't want AT&T to come after me for the full price of the phone after the fact, but I don't want to waste time reverting to stock if it's not necessary.

It's done. I didn't bother reverting, I just wiped user data.

    We'll see.

Loading a custom ROM is just "flashing" the OS with another, usually one with speed enhancements and other optimizations.

I was using Infused ROM - you can check the xda forums for instructions.

I returned my captivate with a rom on it to best buy, got me the infuse. I love this phone a lot more than the captivate

I would not consider Lg pieces of junk, actually pretty good, even though I would prefer the Infuse. This is because I do not think I would use 3d much unless showing it off, and the Infuse screen is better anyway for daily use. The Thrill does have a better processor, which most people do not need, and its not even going to match the S2 and Prime when it comes out. The Thrill seems like it will be a good phone, but I am just going to wait for the Prime probably because it will be a fantastic phone inside, and out, with updates galore.

I have both...the thrill and the infuse...and my friend has the sg2 (us version)

the thrill wins in every bench mark...but I keep coming back to the infuse.

of course this may change once we all make progress with custom stuffs for the thrill...because that is my hangup...the software is crap

everything else about the phone is far superior than what is on the sammy phones...

and why does the prime keep coming up? isn't that a verizon phone

The super amoled screen is what it's about. After looking at this amazing screen a regular lcd looks washed out and dull.

Samsung you have me big time with this screen.

I am returning my Infuse, but had Infused ROM 2 on it. I restored to factory settings from XDA. Will they know that I had done this?

I'm going to miss the 4.5' screen, going to the Galaxy S2 because there is more development going on for the phone. If it doesn't release before the iPhone 5 though, i'm rolling with the iPhone 5.

I've had the Infuse for about two weeks now and it's an amazing phone, but I bought it to hold me over until the GS2 was released for AT&T. They're pretty much the same phone with changes under the hood and GB coming stock on the GS2.

I've had an iPhone since it released, mixed in with a little Nexus One, but mostly i've had the iPhone and I doubt i'll skip this generations.

    Relevance though?

he Galaxy S II will be available starting October 2 for $199.99 w/2-yr contract! Min. $15/month data plan req'd. social.att.com/VDq

    check their twitter and facebook

I still think it is silly to buy the phone...he is testing the Celox now (1.5 Snapdragon proc with LTE)

I don't think it's silly. I happen to live in the now and i've already waited long enough for the GS II (been interested about 3 weeks now, lol). I don't need the HSPA that I get now because i'm mostly at home on Wi-Fi or at school on Wi-Fi and it could be a whole nother year before AT&T gets an LTE version of the phone. I've got upgrades on 3 different lines so i'll be ok if something else new comes out.

I haven't spent anytime with either one but come October 2nd I will begin my time with the GS 2 and the iPhone 5 whenever it comes out. So again I ask.. what is the relevance in your question?

What i was getting at was i never make an investment like that without some hands on time... U made the statement u will be switching to one of two different phones that are at least a month away... I always want hands on time before an investment... Call me crazy...

i played around with my buddies epic 4g touch (sprint's version of the gs2) and i really don't see nothing "zoom" about it. Don't get me wrong.....it is snappy!!! I compared it to my Thrill and the main thing that is noticable is the colors of the screen. The GS2 wins that hands down. The UI of touchwiz 4.0 is way better then LG's custom (kinda looks like Touchwiz 3.0). The other thing i noticed was that gyroscope or whatever it is. You can actually zoom in and out of the screen by placing to hands on the screen and moving it towards or away from your face. Pretty neat feature but don't think that'll get used alot. Sorta like the 3D on the Thrill. So both phones pretty well match up but the GS2 has better features(camera, screen, thiness & ROM support). As for the infuse, i really think the only thing that'll hurt it is if certain games come out that actually need a dual processor. Other then that and touchwiz 4.0 there's nothing really there to make you pay for a full price phone.

I returned a couple of phones with cooked ROMs on them. Didn't hear a peep from Sprint. ;)
