I believe that when you flash the Stock RUU file it will revert you back to something Sprint will accept. Probably goes back to 2.16, the Hboot for the GingerBread OTA update that was pushed to all Evo's that were not rooted.

Flash the S-on tool from recovery. Next place the stock ruu on the root of your sd card. Be sure the file is named exactly PC36IMG.
Boot to hboot and the phone will scan for the file automatically. Select update when prompted, be patient, let it do its thang.
Select reboot, and ka-pow! You should be unrooted.

actually this unroot method uses a PC36IMG file to get s-on. so make sure that you follow the guide. also make sure that you do not get the two files you need mixed up. they will ultimately be named the same so keep track on what is what.
