    Strange one this.

Device is a Samsung Galaxy S7 with 7.0 Android.

I uploaded a custom mp3 ringtone (16k - 1 second duration) to /sdram/ringtones There are three other custom ringtones there I uploaded earlier.

If I go under Settings > Sounds and Vibration > Ringtone I see the new ringtone along with the other three. It can be set as the general ringtone and works when called.

If I go into contacts and edit my wife's details, under Ringtone, the custom mp3 shows up. Under Message Tone, the mp3 is not listed, but the other three customs mp3's are.

I have rebooted the device several times, but no joy.

Anyone have any notion how I can get this mp3 visible so I can set it as a Message Tone?

    Cheers.

    OK, solved it.

Ringtones go into the /sdram/ringtones folder

Message Tone sound files need to go into /sdram/notifications

As soon as I copied it over, all worked perfectly.

    Hope this helps someone else.
