So I know that you can turn off data roaming which is fantastic, and I know you can stop the automatic download of SMS and MMS. However how does it work if I were to want to be able to selectively access data roaming while abroad (for example, if I want to do a quick email check)?

I know I can keep synch off and then just go into my email after reloading data roaming, but my concern here are my widgets and other apps that receive data automatically from the internet. To stop them from all of the sudden connecting to the internet and costing me a fortune, do I have any option other than simply temporarily deleting all of my widgets?

    Thanks!

Not unless theres an app on the market where yyou can set data use profiles...I dont see the problem with deleting the widgets abroad, and just going into the menu to use them. Afterall they wont be updating anyway
