I honestly dont care anymore, why? Because i got my phone debranded now, with 2.1. While Rogers puts all their shit on this phone, i got myself a clean quick phone. So these news are about as good as getting Android 1.6 back on this phone.

k ill have to download that and back it up. with the mybackup program when i restore it will it restore it the same way it was setup when i backed it up? same home screen configuration, ringtons, all that nonesense? or will it just reinstall the apps and ill have to put things where i want them?

Would actually love to know the answer to that as well, since I expect at some point soon to update through the official method.
On the other hand it seems to me that if we were to go Titanium route, one needs to debrand, root, (maybe they're done in the same step), install TI, then backup, then update the phone, and then debrand, root, then restore...

something doesn't sound right about that method to me.

sounds like alot of work. realistically if i write down my downloaded apps and backup my contacts to my sim and memory card then the worst thing that can happen is that i have to reinstall everything manually and configure it to how i had it. but id prefer to avoid that.

i downloaded mybackup pro from apktor and backed up everything on the phone to that. im guessing ill have to reinstall it when i update to 2.1. so from what i did last time, i used astro file manager to reinstall the apps i had downloaded through apktor so ill likely do that and reinstall mybackup pro through that and see if itll reinstall all the apps for me.

well, personally i use appbrain app (download from market) to Sync my apps (sync manually weekly)

backup and restore and/or phonebook contact export to sd card for contacts (run B&R weekly automatically)

when update is done just restore contacts, then download appbrain and click on "perform installs"

this then accesses the market for you and all you have to do is click on install

**note** sometimes have to run the sync 2 or 3 times to get ALL apps but certainly EASIEST way over TITANIUM

6:28am EST, no update from Rogers yet. Checked at Midnight too, hehehe. Think I'll take my data cable to work today. Checked via updates in ABOUT on the phone and via SEUS. Nothing on the Rogers site support/download links either.

i thought someone said that we'd recieve a text message when it was ready to go?

if i do the update via the phone will it tell me if the 2.1 update is ready?

I always thought for Rogers you have to connect using SEUS to get the update. That's how I got the last 1.6 update to ...A20 (or whatever the code is) without getting any txt messaging or OTA notifications from Rogers.

Was not the update reported to be during the week of Nov 8th? If that is the case it is still probably a few days away.

One thing always on time with Rogers is the monthly bill. :)

D'oh! Learned the hard way... I connected to SEUS to see if the update was present...it came back saying I was current but there was something to install. I installed... got all excited when I saw it take longer to boot and that I had a flashing messing indicator...then all bummed when I saw it just reflashed me with the R20 update and I've lost everything on my phone :(

I'm guessing I can re-root, re-install titanium backup and restore everything that way so that's what i'm trying. Also thank goodness for the online sync. Got all my contacts back in seconds. This is probably good because my camera app has been flaky in the past few days.

    you wouldn't understand lol
just be patient and don't rush to check for updates
and iirc Rogers doesn't have anyone qualified enough to mod a firmware :p so

Just saw this posted on the Sony Ericsson blog site.

@Patrick, I just got off the phone with Rogers Tech Support. They say the update has not been released to them yet and have no idea when it will be released either. They did tell me that they will push a text notification once its available. Im guessing once they have it, they are going to first want to brand the update before we see it. Hopefully we’ll have it by the end of the week.

I'm not sure why people are so surprised that the update hasn't arrived. Neither SE or Rogers officially announced today as the date. All we've had to go on were various links referring to an "anonymous tipster".

I'm happy with 1.6 as well except for 1 major flaw which has me wanting 2.1

Bluetooth connectivity to Car's audio system.
1.6 has a flaw where it connects, it gets paired, but the audio itself doesn't transfer over (this is both for music and especially voice calls)
This bug occurs on my car (2010 mazda 3) and many many other vehicles.

    That's all I want 2.1 for... *sigh*

for those who updated early via the XDA method, do you connect to the internet using HSDPA instead of 3g now?
