In case anyone here doesn't lurk on XDA, icezar1 released a gingerbread ROM based off of the i9000 source 2 days ago. I have flashed it (and about to flash the update) and so far it's awesome. Xcal just updated his kernel too which repaired the auto-rotate function. For all you experienced flashers (or for those that aren't READ the thread before you do anything, it's not too big yet, and realize this is more dangerous than flashing a 2.2.1 ROM) I highly recommend trying out this "beta" that doesn't feel like one. I flashed it about an hour ago, and so far so good. I haven't seen too many bugs yet. It seems more stable than CM7, which I have tried on three separate occasions (essentially all ending with me not being able to connect to wifi). The only problems I'm seeing so far is that I don't get any haptic feedback with the home soft key. And it's a little bit slower when you have a lot of apps running because it has 329 MB of RAM, rather than CM7 which has 342 and typical 2.2.1 runs about 340.

I hadn't heard about Perception II. That excites me. I ran 9.5 for about four months and I loved it.

This is mostly for you CrimsonPride.

DesignGears released Perception II beta last night. He hasn't uploaded instructions on flashing it, but it's pretty similar to the other 2.3.3 ROMs. You have to get the i9000 Gingerbread bootloaders and then flash the beta zip.

I've been running it for about five hours now, and it's awesome. Even though this was the first beta release, it seems more stable to me than any of the other "stable" ones that I've tried.

The way I did it was to flash the Continuum 5 bootloaders and then just move on from there. Even though it comes with the eXistZ Talon 0.1.1 kernel, it's kind of a stripped-down version. I flashed the full Talon tar file with Odin and that gives you the option to use the ext4.apk.

But anyways, I think if you're comfortable enough using the bootloaders and everything, this is a great ROM.

    Natural,
So as long as your on stock 2.3.3 you can flash any of these roms like any other?

I just made the switch on my test cappy im completly stock 2.3.3 therefore i dont need to mess around with bootloaders anymore just flash like normal now?

EDIT: just flashed apex 6.1 update through clockwork, works perfect.

Not necessarily. You can flash any of the ones that require the stock 2.3.3 bootloaders. Off the top of my head, ROMs like Perception II, Continuum 5, Apex, etc. But for things like CM7 and MIUI, you'd want to be safe and wipe back to stock to get rid of the bootloaders before you re-flash.
