    Cyanogenmod 6.1.2 for D1 HERE

About to install it myself over 6.1

"This is an AOSP-based build with extra contributions from many people which you can use without any type of Google applications. I found a link from some other project that can be used to restore the Google parts, which can be found below or elsewhere in the thread. I've still included the various hardware-specific code, which seems to be slowly being open-sourced anyway.

Visit the CHANGELOG for a full list of changes and features!

All source code is available at the CyanogenMod Github!

If you'd like to to contribute to CyanogenMod, checkout our Gerrit instance.

    - First time flashing CM 6.1 to your Droid (or coming from another ROM)?
    1. Unlock/root your device and install Clockwork Recovery via ROM Manager
    2. Do a Nandroid backup!
    3. Update your radio if necessary
    4. WIPE
    5. Install the ROM
    5. Optionally install the Google Addon

    - Upgrading from earlier CM6?
    1. Do a Nandroid Backup!
    2. Install the ROM (your Google apps will be backed up automatically)

    - Was it a hard reboot? Get me the file "/proc/last_kmsg".
    - Was it a soft reboot or a "boot loop"? Run "adb logcat" and get me the full output.
    - Pastebin links preferred
    - Please use the issue tracker whenever possible!

Please visit the CyanogenMod Wiki for step-by-step installation walkthroughs and tons of other useful information.

I'm running it right now. Flashed right over 6.1 with no problems after a few reboots. Seems to be how my phone takes new installs these days. First 2 boots it freezes, then no problems.

I'm not seeing the new rotary lockscreen though.

Running for about an hour... Seems fine. I added Slayher LV 1.0Ghz kernal and it seems to be running cool and fast....

Installed over 1.1.0 with no wipe...

A very stable ROM so far....

I tried to change the title of this thread from "Test" to "release" since this is in their stable forum, but no luck.

Here's a quote from the CM forums about the differences between 6.1.1 and 6.1.2, as well as a word about the rotary lockscreen:

Up and running and really nice. First boot was a bit iffy setting the preferences but after reboot all took and is running smooth as silk.

Edit: set the phone down and took a nap and it went a bit haywire on me when I tried to use it. Very buggy and laggy. I had to pull the battery to reboot...don't know if it is my install, phone or the rom.

For those of you who are having ANY issues with this ROM:

    I will repeat:

If you do NOT wipe data and cache, YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS. EXPECT TO HAVE THEM!!

If you don't know how to wipe data and cache -- ask!! That's all you have to do. Someone will assist you.

How do I know? Because I also tried installing directly over CyanogenMod 6.1 and my wifi, nor my wireless tethering would work. I also experienced other bugs.

However, once I rebooted into ClockworkMod Recovery (manually) and wiped 6+ times and installed CyanogenMod 6.1.2 right from my sd card, I rebooted into the most bug-free, feature-rich, smoothest and very fast ROM I have ever used.

I've said it before, and 6.1.2 confirms it... I will NOT purchase any phone that I can't immediately flash CyanogenMod onto. I just won't. There literally is nothing else out there that offers more, nor performs better, than CyanogenMod -- IF you take the time to install it correctly (assuming your Droid likes this ROM... as we know, sometimes Droids don't like certain ROMs).

You need to download CyanogenMod 6.1.2 to your computer. Then mount your Droid. Then drop the CyanogenMod 6.1.2 zip file to your sd card.

    Unmount your Droid.

Manually reboot into ClockworkMod Recovery (by pulling your battery and then hold down the X key while turning your Droid on).

Select Wipe Data and Cache and press enter on your d-pad. I would recommend doing this several times. Twice was not enough for me. You need to make sure everything is wiped or there could be incompatibilities.

Then select Install Zip from sd Card. Choose your CyanogenMod file and go from there. That should fix the issues you're experiencing.

I love this ROM but the Market has taken a crap on me, I can't access my downloads in the old market or the "My Apps" page in the new market to update my apps. I didn't do anything that I know of before it started happening, it just started doing it out of the blue. Everytime I try to go to that page it gives me a server error and asks me to retry or cancel, retrying doesn't work and cancelling just brings me to the last page I was on before I tried to go to my downloads, I really have no clue whats going on here.

Made a backup of all apps and system with tibu.Created an update zip for storage on my sd card
Booted to recovery, triple wiped data, cache, boot and system.
    Installed Rom
    Installed google add on
    Installed update zip of tibu

Brought only the apps and programs back I needed
    (this is my usual process)

it worked fine and then went wonky on me.

Sounds like you did everything right. I don't know how much experience you might have with modding, but many here have experienced the inability of their device to run certain ROMs. It has nothing to do with you -- not all Droids are the alike -- and as such, not all ROMs are alike, nor do they run the same way on all OG Droids.

For example, I've heard people here rave on and on and on about Ultimate Droid - yet my Droid refuses to run it. Doesn't matter which version, it will not run it.

Sapphire is another ROM I've wanted to run, but my Droid just won't boot it up, regardless of the version.

Bugless Beast makes my Droid run very hot nearly all the time no matter what I do, and boot loops at the 130 degree mark without fail.

CyanogenMod, LithiumMod, Simply Stunning and Project Elite run extremely well on my device. I don't know why these run with no problem while the others won't.

I just installed this over SS 4.9 and haven't had any major issues (without wiping as you advised against, but just wanted to try). This is my first time trying Cynogen and I installed it with ROM Manager. The only issues I see so far are no other kernels work for me besides Slayers (tried P3Droid and Chevys LV and wouldn't boot past moto logo), the notification LED only flashes once (not repeatedly as it should) even though I have it set to flash in succession in the Cynogen notification settings and lastly there's not native ad blocking or app removal scripts like I'm used to in the SS ROMS (more of a gripe than issue, I know).

If anyone has any tips to fix this other than wiping, I'd be appreciative. I really don't want to spend half the day setting my phone up like the pre 2.1 days. I tried using Chevys bkapps/rstapps script to no avail too. That script was really useful when switching ROMs before. I think I'm just going to restore my SS backup and stay with it for now until I can easily fix these things. The only reason I switched was I was tired of rebooting my phone every day or two to keep it responsive and wanted to try another ROM to see if it helped. I have 50+ MBs free at all times on my phone and tried swapper2 with no results too :(.

I've been roughly following the TiBu restore procedures that I picked up from GirlLuvsDroid for LFY, and it works fine - full wipe, boot up, skip google login, [install TiBu from apk if it isn't in the ROM], TiBu batch restore the 'green' stuff data only, TiBu batch restore all the other apps + data, log in to gmail/market, reboot.

Otherwise.. yeah, I don't know how else to fix it besides installing it fresh in the first place.

Same, my phone loves Cyanogenmod and I'm very happy it does. Haha.

    Went back to this till I get a new phone,most likely the Bionic end of July. I've tried several GB roms and some work better than others but all of them have some issue,whether it's music skipping or multitasking not working or some combination of settings/kernals slowing the thing down,or multiple sms posts on and on. I dl'd this again,wiped everything and redl'd most of my apps short of the ones I needed data for and it's working great. I can multitask to my hearts desire with no skipping,bumping apps off. It's not quite as fast as GB and uses more memory it appears but at least it's useable. This phone does not like cutting edge so I'll wait to get the dual core,larger screened,DNLA inc,much bigger internal mem with a better camera beast and just use this ROM till then and have MANY fewer headaches! 8}
