ROM flash on unlocked phone?

not sure if im posting this in the correct area ... but anyways. I have a Samsung Galaxy S2 tmobile sgh-t989 and I have it unlocked and rooted.

Was thinking of upgrading the ROM but with my phone being unlocked will the flash work or just make my phone unusable??? cant really find an answer to this on google lol so thought is try the forum out :D

my current kernel is 3.0.8 and running ICS 4.0.4

Hey guinter,

I have moved this thread into the S2 T-Mobile Root Forum to get some better feedback.

If you flash the right ROM your device will probably be much smoother and have better battery life :)

Note my answer is what I think not necessarily what will happen! Once you flash a rom I think you should not have problems with sim lock especially if you think about using CM10 or any other rom that uses its own radio. The radio should work with any of the carriers on a custom rom. You can try it out but make sure you make a nandroid or twrp backup depending on your recovery so if something is not working right you can always restore back to the stock or your current rom without losing any functionality of your device!

I'm running titanum backup so that should work to back up everything right? I'm new to rooted phones so im kinda clueless to all of this

Titanium Backup does a backup of your apps only. Make sure you do a backup in the recovery as well. Clockworkmod or TWRP which ever you use. They make a system image so you can restore your system state at any point in time. Titanium is for the data that you have on your phone!
