Is the smarta$$v2 governor named after you? LOL :D

I was successful in flashing 121 and changing the Tibu preferences option. I then flashed 129 with no wiping, now I can play.

Truth is the best policy - right next to our site rules that I can sum up very easily -

    Please be polite.

If someone makes mistakes or needs help or just doesn't get it, that doesn't give you - or them - free license to cop an attitude.

    It's an imperfect world.

It's really not helpful to explain a rom situation in terms of wiping your nose.

Neither is it helpful to call names based on a popular speed governor.

I think it's best for everyone here to cool off a bit.

    Cheers, thanks!

Well, on xda where the thread is over 1400 pages is one thing, but when a thread is this short, theres no excuse for not reading. I'm all for helping, but, I'm not here to hold anyone's hand. If people can't read, imma start reporting them since telling these people to read is not OK.

How is telling them not to wipe anything, not helpful? I didn't want to answer the question of "how about dalvik? " because there's no reason if I explain it.

Oh, and I thought the smartass comment was damn funny personally.

Maybe it's just a matter of perspective. What comes easy to you may not to others. It's just as easy to politely ask someone to read or re-read - or even not respond, let another community member who's already made the mistakes help them out - than it is to rag on people for being in a hurry.

The first rule of rooting is read, read, read and then read some more, before acting - and if things go wrong, go back and read again.

The second rule of rooting is when trouble hits, don't panic. Read, then post.

See? Easy to say without reporting or getting upset with people. And easy to let others say it for you, don't you agree? :)

My criticism was specific to wiping your nose type comments. Maybe you and I could immediately translate to that data and cache actions - others are new at it.

We were all new at this stuff once - you too, me too, them too. No need to hand hold everyone, no need to be cold either. Easy does it, that's my idea.

Perhaps it was - but I don't think a rom thread is really heading in the right direction if it comes to that - we have a whole Lounge forum for horseplay.

    Hope this helps! :) ;)

That was the FIRST thing I posted. He took offense to it, like SO MANY that dont read a damn thing do. If theres not a picture, Im sure most of these people would be LOST.

It doesnt really help to be honest. I makes things worse for those of us that HAVE the ability to read and learn. The Bolt is my first and only foray into androids thus far, and my sign up date was two days before my bolt was in my hands. I know what I do because I READ BEFORE I do anything. You can check all of my posts, I have absolutely ZERO problems helping those in need, I have HUGE issues with holding peoples hands.

"If youre not smart enough to help yourself, Im not bored enough to help you"

Thats something EVERYONE should take as a lesson to be honest. Why should those of us that HAVE the knowledge coddle those that arent smart enough to read and figure out possible issues with the ROM. Ive posted it in this thread and many others MANY times. Its not that I have issues with "being Nice", because Ive been quite nice to many people. Its not that I have issues helping the noobs, because like you pointed out, weve ALL been there. But the one question that every single moderator that Ive asked this question has completely ignored is this:

Where do those of us that help draw the line?

It gets frustrating when stupid questions(yeah, I know the old saying of theres no such thing as a stupid question, but this is a bonafide LIE) are asked. By stupid questions, I directly mean the questions that asked when the answer is RIGHT in front of them(Literally). I could understand if he was having an off the wall issue that I could help him with. Im always down for those, but when I JUST explained it to someone else, and then he posts that hes having the issue and doesnt know how to fix it, thats just straight up laziness, and yes, that becomes a stupid question.

The problem with ignoring questions is that they have a tendency to muddy the thread, just like drama does. They spam the thread with the same question over and over and over, never taking two seconds to read. There needs to be repercussions for those that do this, just like there has been for those that tell them to read or go on and flame them. Things are tilted in a way that these type of people over run a forum and drastically kill the intelligence level, and those that are able to help, stop wanting to because theyre sick and tired of the same questions.

    Im one of these people.

So you tell me, what am I supposed to do, REALISTICALLY, with these people when telling them to read the thread is far too much or complicated for them?

Im honestly not trying to start trouble, Im really not, what I am wanting though is BALANCE. Those that dont read and spam threads with questions need to have some sort of action taken against them across ALL forums. This is a problem on every board Ive been on.

I think EarlyMon hit the nail on the head, but here are a couple more thoughts.

You really don't have to. Replying and helping isn't an obligation at all. If one user is spamming the same question over and over again, feel free to report and we'll take care of it. ;)

There's no line to be drawn. Help if you feel like it, that's pretty much it. The "line" is going to change depending on your mood, the user's attitude, the time you have on your hands, etc. However, if a reply has a condescending feel to it or starts to look like a sermon, then it shouldn't be posted. The user has no obligation to read a thread before asking any question (although it is better to do so!). I know exactly what you mean, I've spend quite a lot of time helping others on internet forums... and yes, it can get annoying.

So, in short, help, ignore or report. ;)

I'm sure you intended no harm, but since there's enough clutter in this thread as is, I'm asking that the subject be dropped. Feel free to PM me or EarlyMon if you wish to continue this discussion. :)

McL: Got SVN up and running, read through the thread here and on infected, and just wanted to verify that I can just zip up the files that were downloaded (as storage, etc.) and flash away, right?

Edit: with all the usual nandroiding and wiping, etc.

Edit again: sort of answered my own question. I was sort of concerned because of the size of the ROM, which is, well, gigantic. It downloaded one of the rolled up versions and it looks like it was zipped with compression. I usually don't use compression when doing this stuff--probably just unfounded fear of it causing issues, but it looks like that it pretty much indeed is all you need to do.

LOL, one more edit: SVN is a pretty good way to go for nightlies once you have an essentially working ROM. Might kind of suck at first when the dev is in the "break stuff to fix stuff" phase, but once it is in the tweaks and quick fixes stage this is absolutely the way to go.

I ran SoaB 1.03 for awhile, before this was available. Eternity has all the nice sense 3.5 elements of SoaB, but is more refined, has a better overall look, and in my opinion functions better (no annoying call echo in this ROM). I think you will be pleased with the switch if you decide to do so.

this ROM just did not happen for me. it loaded fine, but every time i tried to use titanium it froze up. happend a few more times when i tried to do a batch restore etc. really frustrating to pull the battery so many time. went back to liquid, have a feeling this battery life is terrible anyway. just my experience, not hating.

Open Tibu/Menu/Settings/Scroll to App Processing/Change to Auto, Indirect/WIN

You really should post when youre having issues, as this is a widely known issue with TiBu. Your feeling about battery life is so far off base that I dont really know what to say.

OK, thanks. Too bad, I thought using SVN was a good idea, but I guess it makes it so he has to support the ROM and the use of SVN...

Will be trying this ROM this week. Been doing AOSP for a long time and I want to take a run through the Sense roms before I start a full time on site contract next week. I am going to be more dependent on my phone, so I want to get the right ROM loaded--won't be able to play around as much.

Sometimes is does take a few cycles to get battery life at normal levels. I find it to be pretty good, comparable to other ROM's I've used. I pretty much get good battery life with most ROM's (I've been fortunate with that), except stock, of course.

The only thing I've gotten used to/like (which is really ridiculous and inconsequential) is the look and feel of the Phone/Menu buttons with SoaB 1.03 as well as the battery indicator in the status bar. Aside from that I really have no allegiance either way.

I've never had that kind of trouble with a ROM. Maybe the kernel just doesn't play well with your phone.

my radio is MR2 (pretty old), but never had a reason to change it. pulled battery about 10 times when downloading ANY market app or trying to ANYTHING in titaium backup. its unbelievable actually. flashed seperately twice, had to restore liquid twice. unreal! wtf! is it even worth it for "beats" audio?

i apologize if it sounds as if i am bashing this ROM, i am not, i am just extremely frustrated. never had something that booted up but cant execute any tasks

    @Chrizzl:

I had the same problem and i read the thread. What I found out is that I needed to load 121 then "dirty flash" 126, the latest at the time. Try that. Its actually a pretty good ROM if you can get it going.
