Root [ROM]K2_CL 4.2.2 Stock Rooted Deodexed

I'm about to do something different for our phone. 4.3 and up don't normally use ext4 formats anymore. In some cases they will except for the data partition. They are starting to use a new one called f2fs. Not sure if anyone is aware of this. For your device to use f2fs instead of ext4, you must have kernel support, and the Rom must be f2fs compatible. In addition, it requires the use of a "special" twrp recovery build when using f2fs.

Been researching this. I can easily build kernel support and the twrp support. The Rom is where it gets tricky. But I want to do it to see what it feels like on this device. I hear it is smoother and faster than ext4.

Yea, I have heard it is really nice. Will definitely keep you guys posted. I have to approach this work with some delicacy. Got to get my backups prepped, original twrp, etc, etc. One wrong slip up and I could be in for the long haul of repairing my device if I don't set the cards on the table correctly. Now would be a good time to have a backup phone hahaha. But I love the challenge.

The stock camera doesn't work in deodexed version, does in the odexed version, but Qualcomm & NFC doesn't...

I'm sorry but, neither of these are really viable for me, back to regular stock

Could you elaborate? I tested the camera, WiFi, 3g/4g and everything else I could think of.

When you say the camera doesn't work, does it fc? Does it not save the photos?
And as far as stock odexed, I did nothing to change it, I adb pulled it from my phone and zipped it up.

It force closes on attempting to open it. If I could fix it, I would be happy with De-odexed.

Im planning on redoing the whole thing soon. I really want to have a complete /system (including NFC and Qualcomm)

The odexed version should have nothing broken. I didn't modify it in any way. So no idea about that...

But thank you for the input. I'll see about fixing this up soon

The Odexed version force closes Qualcomm every time I open it, but the camera works, I'm flashing from TWRP with no issues, have S-Off, unlocked, formatting first, what am I missing?

I'm not sure. I have by the files on the PC at home and I'm gone for the night. I'll do some additional testing when I get home tomorrow and see if I can reproduce it

Honestly though, I only made the stock odexed version as a way of getting back to stock/getting out of a bootloop easier... So if you have stocks and it works, then there is not need to flash that rom

I wanted to have rooted stock again. I tried re-installing, clearing cache and freezing the apps with TB, no difference.

Not yet. I it deodexes with minimal warnings, and no errors, but same problem... And now I'm having the same issues with the camera you experienced. :dontknow:

Hi, let me first say thanks for the hard work. I tested the flashable zip and it worked really well (i especially enjoyed the lack of bloat, Im currently working on acheiving that level of proficiency myself) except for the actual phone. I posted about it in the main forum, but the barebones of the matter is that the phone was nearly unusable. I wonder if it isn't because I'm on boost mobile and perhaps this Rom did not come from boost? As a last resort before exchanging the device I ran something called the stock RUU and now everything is back to normal. But I'm glad it worked and it was fun to have a debloated Rom for a few days. Thanks again.

Sorry about that. I've actually removed the links for now until I can so some further testing myself. i just don't understand. When I initially tested this i had very few issues, and thought is was ready for daily use... Oh, and btw, it is/was meant for boost

No need to aplologize at all. I had fun playing with it I thought it was for boost but wasn't sure (k2_cl is exclusively boost right? ). I just thought you would like to know. And I wanted to know if anyone else had the same issue. Like I said before , thanks for all the hard work. Btw, if you wouldn't mind how about a list of safely removable bloatware? Or was one of missing bloats causing my issue?

They are all included in the rom (with the exception of nfc and Qualcomm enhanced location) I'm plugging away at it, but it's slow going. My computer had a hard drive failure and the "loaner" I'm using has a 1.6GHz single core processor and one gig of ram. My phone is literally more responsive than it

Same phone same comp , until a manual upgrade I was running a 1.6 as well (which was still faster than anything I've ever had) got a much faster processor online for dirt cheap but the phone still wipes the floor with comp. Ill check back to see the bloat list. Thanks again.

The other thing from the title: the "developer options" in settings are different on it Rom. The only one I know off the top of my head is that yours is missing the "screen always awake" option ( I like this one and was dissapointed not to see it) but it IS in the stock OTA update. Just fyi. Fair warning, if you grab the source from my repo on my github then it will fail unless you modify it. After getting it to work on my phone (yes the K2_CL) I modified it in hopes to get it to work within the recovery so it would use up less resources and run much quicker. I have yet to get it to successfully work within the recovery. So be warn, you must make some changes. If you know what you are doing then it won't be hard to do.

i didnt see a link to download so i wasnt able to do anything. i see alot of themes and custom roms that require deodex, was curious how to do it and is it worth it?
