Root Rom Manager Issue

I am a new to this whole rooting thing. I rooted my phone without issue to take advantage of the wireless teather. That works great and now I want to move onto rom upgrades. I downloaded Rom Manager and paid the $$$ for it. After watching the you tube video I used the program to flash clockworkmod recovery which set me at 2.5.0.7 then I selected to download rom and selected rubix focused 1.0. It asked me to select a keyboard type and camera which I did. After downloading it went to the backup current rom and wipe data and cache. At this point the video shows a reboot into the recovery mode where the rom is supposed to install. Instead mine just reboots to it's current config. I then selected the program option to reboot into recovery mode aand it does the same thing. It jsut reboots into it's current config. Where am I going wrong here?

When I go into the DroidX bootsprapper program and select the second option reboot recovery it does the exact same thing... it reboots normally in the stock mode...How do I know if I'm truly rooted?

I did a battery pull and went back into these programs and selected the reboot to recovery from each one of these two programs. It does in fact reboot but just goes into a standard boot with out any changes or addition options. I'm $7 and 15 reboots into this and I'm not any closer to changing the rom... :(

Have you first clicked on the bootstrap recovery button ?

Rebooting into recovery will not do so until the files are installed (bootstrap recovery button does this).

Well the good news is my new rom installed as advertised. I am now running rubix blurry for no particular reason. I'm open to suggestions on other roms. Thank you all for your assistance.

Droid X Bootstrap > Bootstrap Recovery(will ask for SU permissions, say yes then it will say Success! and voila!

Open ROM Manager and DL what ever you want and you will be good to go.
