Rom Manager is a pile of junk.

I rooted my phone using Suroot's guide and then read how to install a custom Rom. The rooting guide was very clear (thank you Suroot).

Having read lots on how to partition the SD card I got gparted and followed the YouTube guide.

Then I decided to take a short cut and downloaded Rom Manager and install a Rom that way as it looked much easier. I downloaded one Rom, and then tried to install it. Needless to say it didn't work, so I was very grateful that I had backed up my phone. I tried another Rom. That didn't work.

I then deleted Rom Manager and installed Leedroid Rom using Suroot's guide.

So if you are going to install your first Rom don't cut corners, short cuts don't work. Read the guides, read the guides and then read them again. If you follow them to the letter they work.

I do have one question though, the phone seems to take a while to turn on now (longer than it did running a stock Rom) now that I've got Leedroid. Is this normal?

    Suroot, many thanks.

When you say longer to turn on, do you mean from off (longer to boot) or from screen off (slower to wake from sleep)? If the latter, what cpu governor are you using (the SetCPU app can tell you) - "smartass" is noted for slow waking.

    Longer to boot from off.

The CPU is set to run at 1113 max, min 128 and max idle 460.

The first boot after installing a new ROM is always long. After that, if it takes longer to boot I guess it might just be that it has more stuff to set up. I've not run LeeDroid or stock for a very long time, so can't really say what is normal

First LeeDroid boot always takes around 15 mins for me.

Rom manager is no shortcut too. What can be easier than booting into recovery and then choosing from a menu?

I found both HTC stock and LeeDroid took ages to reboot the phone.
    Gingervillian seems much quicker.

Well it did but looks like I just borked mine and put it into a bootloop... sigh lol
