Are all ROMS compatible with all android phones?

If there was a custom ROM that was based on the Evo with Android 2.3 and Sense, could you install it on a Galaxy S phone?

Are there any limits to the ROMs?

If you want a specific custom ROM that no one has made yet, and don't know how to hack at all, do you suggest it somewhere?

Do ROMs really change the UI or just run over it (i.e. Running a Sense ROM on a Motorola Android with BLUR?)

The ROM includes the kernel, which is hardware-specific, so no, you cannot swap ROMs between phones.

Ok well how exactly are custom ROMs made to look like another phone? Isn't that possible?

No. Read the supported devices for the ROM you're looking at.

You're thinking of themes, not ROM's.

You can suggest it all you want anywhere you want. Doesn't mean that it will get created though.

Typically if you want someone to make you a custom rom you would have to donate some money before anyone would work on it.

phones have different parts and tech ... each requires a special software driver to make each hardware part work. how the total parts work together in each phone is very unique. 1 sure way to break/brick your phone is to put the wrong ROM on the wrong phone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

only limit to ROMs is the developer's skill and imagination and time and android and phone hardware....etc...

in the development area of your particular phone sub-forum.. you can ask and make suggestions about what might be interesting to have on your phone. some dev might try to do it. (within reason)
remember they do this for free and on their spare time... so dont be pushy!
    or
    learn and develop it yourself.

you need to do some more research on "ROM" and "Theme"; the difference.

for more tech info you should visit xda-developers.com
