Blackdroid has released UD 3.0.0. beta for Droid 1. You can get it from the download section of his forum (The Ultimate Droid - Forums -> Download Manager -> Motorola Droid -> The Ultimate Droid 3.0.0 Beta) or from the ftp-site mentioned here: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/ultimatedroid/113380-ultimate-droid-3-0-0-beta-7-phones.html.

Screenshots can be found here: http://www.droidforums.net/forum/ul...te-droid-3-0-0-beta-7-phones.html#post1163426

change log (for ROM released on 1/10 at 5:34pm):
    Additional known bugs:
    * This ROM still has the known 'drop 3G after making / receiving phone calls' issue. Work-around to get 3G back is to enable airplane mode and disabling it again. That should restore 3G.

I use long press back to show browser history. Will this now close the browser?

Have you guys noticed the capacitive buttons light up now? Just the KB backlight don't...not yet anyway

EDIT: The Capacitive buttons only work during the initial set up process after the data wipe....Don't light up once you get into the phone and start browsing....

This ROM is the best YET!!!! I mean it's much smoother than the rest i've tried.....

Using in conjunction with Sapphire 125mhz-1100mhz w/ADW Launcher Ex 1.1.....

I think GVoice has issues, I vaguely remember reading something to that affect on UD forum. Best to check there.

I believe the 'long press to kill app' is an option under settings somewhere. If you uncheck it, you should be able to keep the functionality as you have it right now

Has anybody noticed if the data cuts out after a call?

I was able to get GVoice working on the older GB CM7 builds, but I had to try signing in multiple times before it would work.

So is this a full GB build or is it Froyo with GB parts/theme? If it is all GB, does the data reconnect after phone calls?

Can't wait to try it out...

BD apparently used build GRH78 - which is 2.3.1 aka GB.

Can't provide feedback on data connection after calls - didn't get time to flash this ROM yet.

Yep. I have to switch to airplane mode and back to get 3G to work again.

Just flashed and played around with it for a bit. Some observations:

Install went smooth, however, no market app was restored. Had to use TiBu to get them back but none of my apps is listed in my Downloads in market, so updates probably wont give me any notification. After calls, data connection is broken, had to enable airplane mode and then disable that to get it back. Installing some of the built in apps appeared to get stuck. Didnt install gvoice yet so dont know it that works or not.

Overall, appears to be a decent beta with some of the known GB issues still unresolved. Looks like it is about the same status as the CM7r0 ROM jeffv is working on.

Having the same brightness issue here, and haven't noticed the data cutting out as I haven't made phone calls in the last couple hours. Aside from those issues, everything is working great. It looks awesome and runs nice and fast with the stock kernel. All of my apps updated from the market right away. Can't wait for the last couple issues to get ironed out.

How does this compare to CM7, guys? Doesn't look like there's a whole lot of tweaks. I may give it a shot tomorrow when I have more time, but digging CM7 for the time being. Hopefully that damn phone call/data issue get's solved soon.

    Ditto!

And on another related note ... This ROM is really fast! And the new 'select text' feature of Gingerbread is rocking my world! I LOVE IT!!!!!!! Works really well with Swype.

This version of UD was so worth the wait. It's crazy fast and extremely smooth. Two favorite things so far are the on/off animation and the new select text feature. That's so freakin handy I can't believe we've been missing it all this time.

Only issues I've had are the keyboard and cap buttons not lighting up, which is a known issue. When the market was restoring all my apps a couple failed with a "Not enough storage" error. I just tried them a second time and they went through. I haven't experienced the no data after voice calls issue and I made several calls during the day yesterday. Also, not a single force close on anything yet.

I want to try this ROM so badly. I might just have to make a backup and rock it through the day to get a peek. but that "Beta" word scares me.

If it was irreversible, I could understand. But the fact that you can so easily revert back to your current ROM ... what's to be scared about? Just DO IT!!! ;)

    Did it, lovin it.
All apps restored. Google Voice seems to be working fine, put in a call to myself, didn't have to go to airplane mode and back to get wireless working again. In shitty area to be trying 3G so that will have to wait to see if that needs restored.

I'm very SAD that the DROID and DROID X ringtones aren't there =( anyone know where I can snag them?
