i dont really do recommendations, reason being is that roms are down to personal preference and the nature of rooting a device so you can do this means you will be able to test them.
Im running leedroid 2.2a with his new kernel on a2sd+. its a great and stable rom
problem is if you go straight to that then you will inevitably think "wonder what a differing rom is like" and flash it as you have a nandroid of leedroid to fall back on if you dont like it.

Try a bunch of different roms. Leedroid is a good.one to try, as is the stable cyanogen. I am running defrost 5.1 and its.super stable, buy he.just released 5.2 with FM radio and people say.its.not as stable. You need to figure out what.you want in a Rom and what you don't, they are all slightly different.

Actually, the latest 5.2 defrost kernel has reverted to 5.1+FM for testing...

Make sure you do backups of your existing rom before changing. Boot into clockworkmod recovery and do a backup there.

Yep. It's the same only instead of using your newly flashed clockworkmid recovery, it has put clockworkmod recovery as a zip file on.your SD and used that version.

If they coexist fine, its cool
