    Modaco Releases

I'm not sure how many people seen this on here, but I've decided to bring it here. This IS NOT my ROM. One link is the Deodexed version of the build that comes with all Galaxy S including TW 3.0. The other in case you don't like TW is the Vanilla Android....meaning clean, no TW, just plain ol' Android.

    GalaxySDeodexed.zip

    VanillaGalaxyS.update.zip

The Vanilla build should work for all versions, but you're gonna have to add your carriers apps to them, ex: Captivate has AT&T TV and so on.

The deodexed I believe should be the same way, but I'm not 100% sure if it's compatible with them all. It should be though. Deodexed is basically a build without the odexed files, so the devs that may want to theme can theme the phone without having to worry about the security of the apks and framework.

To root your version of the Galaxy S check out these links....
    Captivate: http://androidforums.com/samsung-captivate/120616-captivate-root.html
    Vibrant: Vibrant Root

For those who still want to try anyways....No one is responsible for what happens to your phone.

Here's the links to the original Stock ROMs for the Captivate and Vibrant in case something happens....
Check here for the stock rom:
    Capitvate: Stock Captivate
    Vibrant: Stock Vibrant Installation Guide
Extra Files For Vibrant: Vibrant Stock ROM, 512 File, Odin 1.0

    UPDATE:
Clockworkmod Recovery and ROM Manager now available....
    Vibrant Clockworkmod Recovery

Tremendous Thanks To: Koush and his hard work!!!

Yeah it takes time. I guess they wanna see it progress.... It all depends on how many developers there are. They might just make a general Galaxy S section. But it all depends.

Yeah I'm sure it'll happen soon with some of the best programmers at XDA working on it. I really hope there isn't just one Galaxy S root section since the international stuff will be different than the US stuff.

Good point.... From what I do know though, a lot of devs, are on VZW because of the Droid and the Incredible. I guess when the Fascinate comes out, that's when things may pick up, unless people jump ship. Me personally, I'm waiting on the Fascinate. I've tested the Captivate and the Vibrant, but I'm going to wait on VZW. When? Not sure.

But I do know that there are a few devs that worked on the G1, MyTouch and Nexus, so we'll see. It's only been a few days so we just have to wait and see.

  13. 1) are you rooted?

    2) did you wipe (alt+w) before you flashed?

Haha no need for apology it was pretty quick imo, I am really looking forward to what developers are going to do with the vibrant specifically.:D:cool:

  17. Well going to be alot... right now they are working mainly on the kernel.... once they have that finished they will start building roms like crazy.... JustAnotherDev made a test kernel today and the Cyanogen mod is already in the process of being ported so for sure we will have at least 2 REALLY good roms....

Most likely. Don't expect TW to be with it though. The good ol' fashioned Vanilla is where its at right now

  20. thats more than half the point of root to get rid of the bloat and honestly I used touchwiz for about 4 hours just to test it and then went back to good old ADW which is what half the rooted builds run anyhow....

Oh yeah that doesn't bother me at all even with my behold 2 that had twiz 2.0 I used the original galaxy rom that was created for it of which is just stock android 1.6 but then used ADW because plain android is just boring to me.

Thats what is normally done anyways they just replace twiz with a home replacement like home ++ beta or adw, something of the sort.

Although touchwiz does have some benefits over many others like the pull down menu to control wifi gps and etc... Maybe they can leave that in.

Doesn't the pull down menu stay the same even while using ADW??

  23. If you mean the notification bar yes it stays the same...
