Root Cellular South HTC Hero?

Now that Cellular South has released Android 2.1, is there a flashed version out there? I couldn't help but notice the update is kinda clunky, buggy, and feels stripped down, almost as if it's just 1.5 with a few new tricks.
Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone has rooted their Hero, and if there are any tutorials on how to?

Since your hero is a CDMA phone, I've moved your thread to the Sprint (CDMA) section for you. The other hero section is just for GSM phones
