As far as I know, it is not possible to root anything above ROM 4.0.2.A.0.42 without downgrading to this version first.

I've rooted ROM 4.0.2.A.0.42, then upgraded to ROM 4.0.2.A.0.62 without losing root using the following guides:

It has been confirmed to work to upgrade to Android 4.04 (ROM 4.1.B), as well.
