There is no straight answer for what you are looking for.

Rooting your phone only grants you Root access. Think of it like a computer network. Root access is similar to having Admin rights on a network.

Getting root access will then allow you to load custom ROMs or Kernels that can help you with whatever you're trying to achieve.

It is simple, once you understand the process and learn what you need to do. Before you get to the part where its simple, you'll want to read up on the process. Flashing ROMs and kernels have the potential to brick your phone, so you need to be comfortable with it.

I made the fatal mistake of applying the US Cellular 2.2.1. Most of my previous applications no longer work (after reinstalling them because the upgrade wiped everything). I have reinstalled the latest z4root and it does not work. Without being able to root, applications that require it will not run.

If anyone knows of a root application that is compatible with US Cellular Android 2.2.1 please post it so we can use it too.

    Thanks

There are multiple posts, all over this forum, that say S1C works just fine with 2.2.1. Z4root is an application that hasn't been supported since before the Mez was originally released, so its not that surprising that it doesn't work with 2.2.

What is S1C and where can I get it? Searching for it produced no results.
