Is it possible to root my droid x without an sd card? I'm using 2.2 so i know there are many methods but all i know are one click which require an app to be installed from the card.

Well, you can use "adb install xyz.apk" to install an app from your PC (having previously install the Android SDK, of course).

This will not require the SD card.

The Android SDK is actually pretty simple to install (you basically download and extract it to a directory)...its usually the USB drivers for adb that folks run into trouble with.
