i have benn trying to root my brothers boost marquee and i have had no luck . I didnt have any trouble when i rooted my marquee but i cant remember if the LG Support Tool is required to get all the drivers installed that is needed..??
Well.... I personally did not use the LG Support Tool (Win 7 SP1 x64).... I hope that wasn't a no-no, but there were no blips when I went to root the phone.
If I recall correctly, I
--clicked the Boost link in Step 2
--downloaded the USB Driver for Windows & LG Mobile Support Tool
(I actually did open the LG Mobile Support Tool by accident while trying to figure out what it was.... Nothing happened, as I did not have the phone plugged into the computer at the time.)
--turned off Antivirus & Internet Security Suite, installed the USB Driver & rebooted (without phone plugged into the computer)
--plugged the phone turned on in the computer (w/ USB Debugging, Always ask off, & charge only)
There was the usual automatic detection & installation of the phone's drivers that went without a hitch.
--made sure I had the USB driver fix from the quoted post in the original post
(already had it)
After a while of having the phone on & looking through the Device Manager, I believe I turned off the phone with the power button while it was still plugged into the computer & more drivers installed (around step 10 when the phone is powered down)....
More drivers installed when I switched to Mass Storage.... Made sure all necessary Windows Updates were completed.... Rebooted....
Then, get to rooting!
Around step 11 with my Boost phone, more drivers installed, then I disabed the LG (modem) entry in network adapters in Device Manager.
I hope this is helpful to you in some way.
